Welcome to Te Awa Glamping - a luxury escape on the banks of the mighty Whanganui River. Located deep in our family farm with private beach access, you can arrive by jet-boat, canoe, air or road, for a stay you’ll be sure to remember.
Our luxury tent offers everything you'll need to unwind, or if you're an active relaxer, you can grab a bike and explore the range of trails in the area, canoe or jet boat down to the Lavender Cafe or explore New Zealand's wondrous Forgotten World.
However you choose to unwind, you’ll find more than just glamping when you stay with us.

We were so so so happy with our stay and the ammenities, they left us with all the bits we could need to have a wonderful brekky and even roast marshmallows over the fire. There's even a treasure hunt at the tent that makes the whole experience even more fun :) Thank you so much for putting such care into your beautiful accomodation experience <3

Food was superb and plentiful, host was super helpful, went above and beyond. Really appreciate the little touches. Can't recommend enough. Will be back ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had the most incredible stay at Te Awa Glamping last night. The location and view was stunning, a slice of paradise that we were lucky enough to be apart of. The tent was amazing as were the details and finer touches; soft linen, a delicious welcome hamper and dinner provided in the fridge. I highly recommend Te Awa Glamping for both a couple stay or a family getaway. The amenities were great and we will definitely be telling all our family and friends to visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Long time travelers, first time glampers. From the moment you arrive at your destination, you can't help to notice the stunning location. The hosts are extremely friendly and super accommodating, the incredible complimentary food hampers are a touch of class. The accommodation is a wonderful and large tent, divided into two main areas. A large luxurious bathroom and the main room comprising of a large king size comfy bed, and living area with a great kitchenette. A large deck surrounds you with panoramic views of the river and the surrounding hills and pastures. There is a large cast iron clawfoot tub situated outside on the deck for you to sip on your wine and soak under the stars. It is truly a breath taking remote paradise, one that can make you get emotional and should you immerse yourself in the Awa (river) it becomes almost spiritual. It is truly an Epic experience. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Te Awa Glamping is truly an oasis of calm and relaxation nestled in the hills of Taumarunui.
Our two days hidden away on the banks of the Whanganui Awa were exactly what we needed to recharge away from the hub-bub of the world, disconnect from screens and reconnect with each other.
This is a perfect spot to unwind, watch the sky, river and birds & is a great base to take time to explore the many beautiful sights and experiences of Taumarunui.
Lou is an amazing host with beautiful attention to detail and she absolutely nailed our tricky dietary requirements. A real treat!
Thanks again Lou and Tom! We wish we could have stayed longer!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely amazing! We've done a lot of glamping and this site is one of our favourites. It's right on the river which was fantastic for swimming in on a hot day, there are also a few kayakers and jet-boaters which were fun to watch. The snacks and food provided were delicious - and plentiful! There are also a lot of little extra touches that really made this stay great. Highly recommend!
