Hi I’m Chanelle, and I am the lead nurse here at the Upper Hutt Veterinary Hospital. I’ve been a vet nurse for 2 and a half years and absolutely love what I do. I am passionate about client relationships, and ensuring all my patients get the absolute best out of their time in clinic. I am also passionate about fear free handling and making sure that when your pets are with us, they know they’re safe, comfortable and not stressed.
In my spare time I love spending time with my friends and family, and my furry children. I have a border collie x Labrador named Leia and a ginger cat called Castiel.
I am very much looking forward to getting to know all my new clients and patients here at Upper Hutt Vet Hospital.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent service from nurses to vets, all of whom displayed good knowledge of our dog's health and well being from the first visit. Not too pushy with expensive care options and treatment will come with a full write up, including before/after photos. Discharge parts were very helpful, and a refund was sorted when the vet changed the prescribed medication. There's also an excellent range of animal products, and a tank full of turtles to keep anxious masters occupied. Go here to get your animal the best care.

Very Poor Service.
My Miniature Schnauzer was involved in an unprovoked dog attack by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier off the lead and uncontrolled. I took him to the Upper Hutt Vet Hospital for treatment of 2 bite wounds on his right back leg (they were informed of both wounds on arrival). When I picked him up after surgery he seemed to be doing okay and took him home. Once home I gave him a tummy rub and noticed an untreated bite hole on the inside of his right leg about the size of a 5c coin (second photo).
Being a long weekend, if I hadn't noticed it would have been another 3 days till further treatment could have been administered.
I think it is very logical to check both sides of a limb after a dog bite. They were apologetic, but sometimes sorry doesn't cut it.
Will be changing vets once stitches are out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have enrolled our cat and now German Shepherd puppy. We also enrolled our puppy in the puppy school. We are local and want to keep it local. I went to buy some puppy biscuits which is recommended by the Vet last time I took my puppy there. There were no notes on file and when asked for help the receptionist did not know anything about the products they are selling and said they were under the pump so no VET can help. I mentioned I will go somewhere else and she said ok. This is what is happening. Its disgusting we as pet owners are thinking of finding another vet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always end up waiting to be seen even though we make appointments every time but the level of care is excellent. Always willing to answer my questions. Always taking good care of my pup. Always listening and providing options. The vets are good at listening to my dogs cues and body language. Highly recommend if you're a local.
