People movers are longer than a normal car, we recommend taking corners wider and be extra cautious when turning and reversing this type of vehicles.

Keep your full driving licence on you at all times while driving.

Minimise distractions: Don't let passengers distract you. Keep your eyes on the road. Before taking off, set up the vehicle with the correct driving position including driver’s seat, steering wheel and rearview mirrors.

Buckle up: Everyone in the vehicle must wear a seatbelt.

Keep left: In New Zealand we drive on the left hand side of the road.

Don’t drive tired and avoid alcohol: Be well rested before your trip and avoid alcohol.

Keep your distance: Keep a generous following distance and increase it as you speed up.

Speed limit: Read road signs to make sure you drive under the speed limit. If the vehicle you hired is a truck, your open road speed limit is 90km/hr. Also drive to the conditions of the road; as weather and road surface changes can change the visibility and stability of the car.

Set up your phone on hands free (driving while using a phone is illegal in NZ). Work out how to use your air conditioning system, stereo and set up GPS unit before taking off.

The boot seal in the van was not in good working condition otherwise it wouldn't have fallen out. Maybe you haven't inspected the vans in a while because going through your past reviews it seems to be a common factor. Another common factor is that you seem to call out everyone that leaves a bad review rather than helping them... Im not sure why you're calling me "twisted" "uneducated" on google, where everyone who will search this company will see the review. If I saw a business owner saying that to customer I would be ashamed. You should be embarrassed of yourself. I am a business owner myself and have a family, so for you to say those things is very nasty and far from the point of what im trying to prove here. Your rotten piece of rubber seal has been put in the bin where it belongs, im not a wasteful person and I don't like throwing things away but for you to call the police on me over throwing away a rotten boot seal that even your own staff didn't realise on the final inspection and let me leave because everything was fine is absolutely ridiculous. Trying to charge me $300 for a new one when I used the van for 4 hours is absurd. If you're looking for an efficent veichle hire, don't go with VANCY, here is a perfect example why! Don't let it happen to you next.

I hired a van for 4 hours to move a few things. While I was moving the boot seal came off easily, as if it was already broken. It was ripped and jagged and had was gone of no point of return. The owner has called the police on me and said I’ve stolen broken boot seal. He then proceeds to says he feels sorry for me that I have to steal things to survive. Excuse me mate I don’t think anyone would steal a broken boot seal. He also then proceeded to say β€œ May god save you from being dumb” I’m not sure if this is how you’re supposed to treat a customer but I would not recommend this place to anyone, he is also trying to charge me $300 for a piece of rubish. VANCY you are a joke.

These guys are awesome. Have hired several times with them. Great rates, friendly service and alwasy a vehicle to meet my needs. Booked it online, arrived at the booked time and a couple of minutes later I was on my way. Great easy accessible location

Vancy was great!! They accommodated all of my needs. Communication was perfect and all details required for the rental were indicated as required. A bait and switch - I reserved a specific truck online and confirmed it for the day I needed it, only to arrive and be told it wasn’t available. I was offered one instead that was much larger than I needed for a higher price. I took it because I needed something for my move, but they didn’t offer an apology or the larger one at the same price, which is what should have happened. Also exceptionally apathetic customer service. EDIT: Lee, the business owner, called me and we had a good conversation (despite his rather inappropriate initial written response to this review, which he has since edited). I explained that I was looking to move again and his company came up, which triggered memories of the encounter I had with them a little over a year ago. I had such a horrible experience that I felt compelled to leave the review I’d forgotten to leave before. Lee listened well and agreed to refund me the difference between what I’d booked and what I ended up getting. However, I want to be clear that his response saying I misunderstood the confirmation is patently false - I understood completely fine, verified by the confirmation email. I booked the small truck (10 cubes) and was given and made to pay for the large truck (20 cubes) on the day of pick up, which was more expensive. I appreciate that Lee reached out in an attempt to make things right, but I also want to make sure that anyone who uses this company in future is sufficiently warned. Lee, I wish you the best of luck and please take this as a learning experience.
