Since Richard was 10 years old he has wanted to be a dentist. Richard thoroughly enjoys his career and enjoys helping the people he meets every day. Richard studied at the University of Otago, where he met his wife Lu. It was there that he graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Richard has a lot of experience and has worked at more than 10 different dental practices throughout NZ in the quest to gain further knowledge and experience. Auckland, Wanganui, Wellington, Carteron, Alexandra, Invercargill, Greymouth, Raglan are some of the practices that Richard has worked at and has now founded Victoria Dentists in Hamilton, where he combines all his advanced technical skills learned over this time. To compliment this he has installed the latest technology in his practice.

Richard has a passion for aesthetic and cosmetic procedures. This is where there is a huge effect in changing a persons’ smile, which in turn boosts their self confidence and has a positive effect that ripples on through their entire lives. He believes in providing treatment of the highest standard and uses the latest technologies with the most advanced, bio-compatible dental materials available today.

A member of NZ Dental Association, NZ Society of Endodontics, NZ cosmetic dentistry,New Zealand Dentists’ Orthodontic Society. Richard is a keen learner and dedicates a lot of time on continuing education, he has completed many post graduate courses in orthodontics, Implant dentistry and cosmetic dentistry in NZ and abroad.

In addition to dentistry, Richard has completed advanced training in anti-wrinkle treatment using botulinum toxin, and his product of choice is Dysport which has both dental and appearance enhancement benefits to create beautiful smiles.

Richard enjoys spending time with his patients therefore building long term relationships with them whilst educating and enabling them to reach the best treatment option that suits their personal, dental and financial needs. He insists that quality dentistry that will stand the test of time is the only type of dentistry worth doing.

Lots of patients have had bad dental experiences in the past, which leaves a negative effect on their oral health, not to mention an emotional black mark against all dentists. Richards’ aim is to make these people feel confident about dentistry again, and feel comfortable enough to allow them to keep up with their dental care.

Richard believes in providing quality dentistry with a gentle touch and is committed to helping his patients keep their teeth for life. Prevention is the best form of dentistry and yes, we know that sometimes cost can be a real obstacle. The thing is, and I know you have heard this before but regular maintenance can cost you a lot less than waiting until you need treatment. If you leave a small cavity to progress into a large cavity, it’s going to cost more. However………..
