Although I live in the foothills of the waitakere ranges I haven't been in the ranges for a little while but it is beautiful.

Great park and so easy to enter. Just a shame most places have restrictions because of the kauri die back.

Surfcasting off Karekare Beach on Sunday night. Two large snapper and a good sized kahawai. Enough kai moana for three families

The park has lost its beauty since you can't see any of it as all the walking tracks that take you in to the actual bush are closed, with very little to no effort by council to get any of these open again. The places you can access are so over crowded that parking is dangerous, as people resort to parking on the side of a 100kmh road as the main carpark is tiny and full up

The Waitakeres are always amazing, even in winter it was well worth the visit
