Absolutely fantastic day! We were looking for a water based trip to visit the Abel Tasman that could accommodate our entire family including a toddler. We were so pleased with our adventure! A perfect day surrounding by great company on the Waka. They include thoughtful snacks and made everyone feel welcome. They are a small family business so book ahead so you don’t miss out!

My wife and I did a waka tour in December 2017 with Lea-Anne. The tour was great. We learned a little Maori, including how to salute from the waka, learned the way to paddle as a waka team, and spent 2 hours on the Tasman Bay coastline, seeing it and learning some of the Maori history and traditions for the area. The owners, Lea-Anne and Todd, are wonderful people with great spirits, very open, welcoming, and kind. They are major players in strengthening their communities and empowering the youth to be proud of the Maori culture and the land on which they live. We had been looking for something Maori that was not propped up as a pay-for-show experience. I contacted Waka Abel Tasman, and Lea-Anne went out of her way to orient us, beyond setting us up for the waka tour. I'm really glad we were able to be a part of the Waka tour and would recommend it to all.

My husband, myself and our two young daughters (7 & 9) recently did a waka tour from Kaiteretere (correct spelling!) out to Tokangawhā (Split Apple Rock). What an amazing experience for us all. We worked together as a team, we got to see amazing places from the water and we learnt a lot about waka and local culture. To be honest, as a New Zealander, with some existing knowledge of Maori culture I was a bit nervous that that the waka tour might have been geared to overseas visitors and therefore perhaps a bit tacky but I couldn't have been more wrong. Lee-Anne gave us a truly authentic experience and that's what really made it for me. I wish Lee-Anne and Todd all the very best for this great venture of theirs and I recommend the Waka tour to all visitors to the Abel Tasman area. Kia ora.

"Best waka'ing ever" says my 8 year old. "Lovely way to get out on the water and learn something of the local heritage at the same time" says my wife. "It was hard but lots of fun blowing the conch" says daughter. All in all a fab family experience with excellent tikanga and korero shared by our guide Calum. Would recommend to any and every family visiting Able Tasman.

We had a fantastic experience. There are about 8 kayaking companies to choose from and they all do a similar kayak to split apple rock but Waka Abel Tasman are different because it is done by Maori locals. They tell stories from their past, provide you with local snacks, let you play the local instruments, teach you their language and their songs. I would highly recommend it.

Tino kino te pai!! We loved our adventure with Waka Abel Tasman. Leanne was fabulous accommodating all 13 of us (6 adults, 7 children). We had a wonderful time seeing the sights and paddling in the waka as well as learning about the area and culture. Thoroughly recommend this for visitors to NZ and NZers. Thank you so much!

Great experiences and memories on the water in a beautiful part of New Zealand. Going out in two waka was magic this time. We wish you well in these trying times for the tourism industry. Looking forward to next years return trip.
