★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome place, especially with the W2K bike/walking track. Camping for self contained vehicles only tho. Has composting toilets. Access to the lake over the style at fence, dingy's can be launched at the far end of road. The water is great, but has a small pebble beach.???

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bit of a hidden gem! A beach with plenty shade options. A good tip is to turn right, when you reach the end of the access road, drive past the camping area and there are some beach access points, on the left - only 20-30m from the parking area. Was rock free to bring the boat in too!

Gravel road (tourists check your hire car Ts and Cs).
Multiple places to stop and get to the shores of Lake Taupo.
Some accessways require climbing over a "style", others across a small bridge and others direct.
Lovely!
Highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice walk through regenerating bush with occasional views back to Whakaipō Bay and south down the length of the lake to the mountains. Worth dressing warmly in cooler weather.
