Being school holidays we got the last carpark near the entrance but there were more down the street. Social distance queue to enter. Check your bag for pests, sanitize hands and only one bubble through the security door at one time. Lovely to be out in the fresh air on a cool overcast day. Paths are good but some puddles and mud due to recent rain. Lots of signs. Love goes to the family of Shirley for the bench seat in a sheltered glade to rest on. Interesting shop goods but above my price range. I will be taking a picnic next time - $11 for a sausage roll in the cafe.

What a delight. We got the guided tour and spent nearly 3 hours out in the bush with Don. He was amazingly knowledgeable about birds and the history of the reserve. We were able to get up close to numerous birds. It was the highlight of the weekend in Welly

Loved this place. Really took me by surprise how many birds you get to see. The Tuataras were really cool to look at too. Great hikes, great scenery. Make sure to have proper footwear and a drink on hand!

What an amazing place this is! Appreciate the effort the volunteers and conservationists put into maintaining this one. Zealandia has tracks that suits everyone’s fitness level. If you are visiting with kids, I do recommend sticking to the easy tracks - the hard tracks can get muddy and are steep. Was a great experience to watch kākā, saddleback, stitch bird, kererū and shags in their natural habitat. If you are planning to hike towards the upper dam / wind turbine, do keep an eye out for big as tuataras. And hey, do visit their cafe before the journey :)

What a wonderful place, Amazing green walks. Beautiful birds, it sounds fantastical like your in a bird jungle. Can't wait to be back in Wellington, this will definitely be one of the places I will visit every time. I could send the whole day here

There's quite a lot to see here, even if it is just taking the time to listen and be quiet while waiting for the birds to come to you. Really calm and peaceful and on a nice day there is a lot of green and blue to be seen. I really enjoyed my visit and would say this is a must-do for any nature lover in Wellington.

Loved Zealandia. The Takahe for me was the definite highlight. The walking was easy although there's a few challenging sections but the trails are well explained. I wish I had enough time to do the night tour! Maybe next time. The only sour part of our experience was the beginning at the welcome desk. As soon as we paid she turned around without much of explanation. We thought perhaps she was getting us a map but a quick run down of what the attractions are, what we could do, and the bag check area process would have been helpful. Other than that, we were very pleased with our experience. We look forward to going back again sometime in the future.

Awesome tramping paths. Fantastic wildlife and they are not shy to show off for a few pictures. We'll worth the trip out there. The request for a donation at counter whilst purchasing access tickets is off putting, as we are all affected by the Pandemic. In fact sites like these should actually consider lowering ticket prices for locals to make it accessible thereby helping them stay afloat.
