β β β β β Old but got place to live in. Almost always occupied but can go a little far and get better accommodation at cheaper rates. Try Taranaki Street instead.

β β β β β I would NOT recommend this place at all. I contacted someone via Trademe asking for information regarding the rooms as I was interested in staying at this place. I received a reply from someone named Amit Nijhawan. At first he was fine but then he became extremely rude with his reply. I don't understand why he was being rude because I was being absolutely polite. I was very interested in this property but after his rude behaviour and reading the reviews about his obnoxious behaviour I feel like I've dodged a bullet. I can also see that he has given his property a 5 star rating on this which is completely false.

β β β β β Stayed at this place as a last resort, and it was the worst experience I've ever had, largely because of the landlord Amit (you can see his 5-star review of this place somewhere below).
The place:
For $385 per week, the room was big and spacious, and gets loads of sun, but that's about where the good stuff ends. The hot water in the shower fluctuates quite alot, so typically when showering it will switch between hot and cold a few times. Microwave is pretty weak and it takes awhile to get your food heated. The windows couldn't be closed tightly because of loose parts, so the wind makes a terrible howling noise when it goes through the windows at night. Not only that, the soundproofing is terrible. I stayed near the top floor and I still felt like I was sleeping right beside the street, so it's not ideal for light sleepers.
Internet:
You are only allowed to use the internet that they provide, so you can't choose your own provider. Their unlimited 'fibre' internet is available for $60 per month, but it feels more like ADSL than fibre. The signal is extremely unstable, and I often got disconnected every 5 to 10 minutes. It's also extremely slow most of the time, especially at night when most of the tenants are on it. The fastest it gets is around 20MB/s, but typically you'll only get about 2 to 5 MB/s.
Landlord:
Amit Nijhawan is absolutely the worst landlord I have ever dealt with. I politely told him that the internet in my room was down, and he was not only extremely rude in his replies, he insisted the internet was fine and it was my fault that I couldn't use it (I moved out after a week and he didn't refund me the $60 for the internet). When i moved out, he was extremely prompt in his email replies and kept urging me to move out quickly so he could get another tenant in. He also reassured me he would return my bond.
After i moved out, however, he would only reply emails once every few days, giving vague answers when I enquired about the bond, and seemingly tried to avoid the subject. I submitted a bond refund form to him to sign and submit to Tenancy Services which he agreed to, but when I checked with Tenancy Services two weeks later to ask if he had submitted the form, they said they hadn't received anything. He eventually stopped responding altogether, and I had to get Tenancy Services to contact him personally to get my bond back, and it took me about 7 weeks to get it back because he never responded to them. All in all an extremely frustrating experience dealing with this guy, so I would recommend avoiding this place just because of him alone.
Conclusion:
For $385 per week, you could get much better elsewhere, and for cheaper too. I rented a studio apartment elsewhere for $320 per week, for a much cheaper price and it's much better here. I would suggest avoiding this place at all costs; literally every place I have stayed at in Wellington is way better than Central on Willis.
