A very disappointing experience. Registered online however process when picking up vehicle took too long. I booked through the Auckland Branch Manager Kylie who I arranged for a nil excess only to find when picking upi the vehicle I wasnt covered for windscreen and tyres. I felt let down as Kylie could have easily mentioned this at the time which I would have accepted. Got 20mins away from the depot when I reaslied there were no curtains in the van. As I couldnt get a response on the phone for 20mins I drove back to the depot where I had to wait a further 30mins whilst a single staff member hung the curtains. Unfortunately one of the camp chairs was broken and the rust on the break of the leg indicated this had been done some time ago. I expect due to Covid these vehicles had been sitting in the yard for sometime however I would have expected the vehicle to be clean. Cutlery drawer was dirty as was the fridge and the on board water had a putrid smell when we first turned the tap on. At the end of the hire when empting the grey water the putrid smell again caught my attention as did the amount of water in the holding tank which indicated it hadnt been emptied prior to our use. We relied on bottle water for drinking as evryone should. Lastly we didnt mange to get any hot water for the week we had the van which was annoying but not serious as we stayed at powered camping facilities with ablution blocks for our use. I know a long story but need to make people aware of what they should check before taking away their van. Tony Hill January 2022

Great service, incredible motorhome super clean and we had a great family gathering. Staff super friendly and pick up and drop was easy. Thank you Kylie for your gift knowing its a special trip for us.

Be very careful about renting from these guys. I rented a van and returned with no issues. 2 Weeks later they have nor refunded my $7,500 security deposit charged on my credit card. Calls always go straight to voicemail, effectively making the head office uncontactable. It appears from reading other reviews they have a similar attitude to others deposits, claiming that it takes 21 working days to refund them This is absurd, I have rented cars all over the world and security deposits have always been refunded within 24 to 48 hours. If you are considering hiring a campervan, I would strongly suggest avoiding this dodgy crowsd

Great service, incredible motorhome. Staff super friendly and pick up and drop was easy. The staff were friendly and prompt. Booked on last minute and given the proper availability, no drama no fuss, if you can see the availability on site you can get that, that’s it. we went about 1800km in 7 days not used any powered sites, also the rate was very reasonable comparing to others, They gave us two days free ?. This was the first camper van experience, From start to finish all went smooth, we will definitely be returning in the next December 2022?.

Please don't take the risk of renting one of these campervans. To detail our unhealthy experience for the dozens of points that were faulty from insurance to heaters to missing and broken cutlery and collapsing shelves would be too much. Rattling drafty broken missing or low quality is how I would sum it up. We compare our experience to britz we went around the north island safely with quality and was even at a discount. Very low quality all around, customer service consists of blaming us for everything and "watch a video". Doesn't go into any further detail. We lost a much needed family holiday. I need to move on, please trust reviews. I didn't and am full of regret. We were made sick at high price and every aspect was low quality. If you do take the risk for some reason document everything to a legal standard or they will just lie about the facts and say "no faults were found"

The Mercedes campervan worked really well and we enjoyed the month away. NZ roads were not always good and driving the large vehicle required concentration. Changing the table to the bed was annoying and after a few days we decided to leave the bed up all the time. Unfortunately we found that the microwave didn’t work. We had very little instructions from the staff at pickup and struggled somewhat to understand all the systems despite having watched YouTube videos. For instance, filling the water tank when the opening seemed too tight for the hose, gauging when it was full, working out the cruise control, wipers, heater and lights. Also, both water indicators said fresh water but one was grey, but not labelled as such. The fridge worked very well.

This was our second time renting a camper van from Apollo and this will probably be our last time. When we picked-up the van, it took an hour to get out of there despite the fact that there were no other clients waiting. The first time I needed to reverse I touched the reversing camera screen to adjust it and the fitting holding it crumbled to pieces. The van leaked in several spots when it rained and even our empty bags stored in one of the outside compartments got flooded. The door shelf in the fridge was missing and the toilet had a pungent smell to it despite the chemicals we used...The curtains were dirty, the floor was gross even after mopping it twice, it was still disgusting. But the worst part of it all is how they LIED to me when I picked-up the van and I was told the $5,000 bond [which I understood would be a "hold" on my credit card] would take 5-10 days to be returned! I thought is was totally unreasonable! Immediately after leaving, we dropped our own car to a paid carpark and my card was unable to pay a $28 bill because the daily limit had been exceeded! The $5,000 was not a "hold" it was actually taken out of my account! And then the kicker: When we returned the van, I was told it usually takes 15-21 days!!! WHAT!? Unbelievable! The first time we rented a van from these thieves I paid the daily insurance, which I felt was a ripoff so this time I took the risk only to be shafted like this! The staff are friendly but whoever makes the business rules there is a greedy gangster... Sorry, that's it from our end. Done. No more.

I don't normally take the time to write reviews but thought I would share our experiences as I have read a few poor reviews. Our experience was fantastic, pick up was friendly and fast. We were shown thoroughly how to use the camper. The lovely lady who did the walk through with us even gave us a few pair of gloves when I said 'eww' to emptying the tanks and toilet, haha. We had no issues at all with the camper, everything worked perfectly. I did give 4 stars as I didn't feel it was as clean as it should have been. There was a pet hair throughout the vehicle and sand around the drain in the shower. Also a few of the cooking utensils were not cleaned properly. Apart from that though pick up and drop of was easy, staff were lovely and everything worked as it should. Was a very memorable trip, thanks :)
