Outstanding genuine Kiwi experience. The tracks are challenging but full of constant delights as is the accommadation. The people running this business deserve a conservation medal. Highly recommended.

Before Christmas 5 of us undertook this walk . It was not a pleasant experience . We all found the track very difficult - a very steep walk the first day . The track in parts were very muddy - and difficult to walk . At one section one of our party slipped on the treacherous track and nearly went over a cliff. We were unable to finish the last day of the walk because of the poor state of the track . Do not expect Department of Conservation standard of tracks . The last farmer ( one of the farmer owners of the of track ) admitted that due to nearly 6 weeks of rain the track should have been closed - but they didn't close the track as they should have and we wasted our money . Check around there are plenty of beautiful free walks you can choose in this area - and importantly you can choose when to do the free walks and not be tied down to booking dates like this walk- and risk being caught out by the weather .

I've walked the track three times - two when it was a 4 day walk and once as a 3 day walk. It was such a good experience on every occasion. Dramatic scenery, beautiful forest, coastal views and challenging enough to justify an extra chocolate at the end of the day. Added bonus of wildlife: the penguins at Flea Bay, NZ fur seals, birds such as kereru, bellbirds. The accommodation is cosy and eclectic, particularly Stoney Bay (didn't want to leave). You may even share your hut (well, underneath) with blue penguins. The huts are well equipped with all you need for cooking good meals. The nice little details like drinks and chocolate at Flea Bay and the farm shop at Stoney Bay mean that you don't have to carry a lot of food. You can even get your pack transported on the first and last days.....for a fee. Our fellow walkers on two occasions were family groups with young children and they thoroughly enjoyed it. A beautiful part of the world and a great way to see it.

I've walked the track twice, each time with groups of varying age and fitness level, and every single person has come to the end of the walk already planning when they can come back and who they can bring with them to experience the stunning landscapes and quirky accommodation that this walk offers! I am already planning another trip, if you time it right you might see penguin chicks!

Just wow! My family and I love hiking and getting to explore the great outdoors. If that sounds like something you enjoy then this is most definitely an experience for you. This multi day walk is outrageously beautiful and I lost track of the number of times a scene took my breath away. The walk can be done by people of various fitness levels and ages (my dad did it no problems and he is a senior citizen and we also brought along our young daughters). The various accomodation you stay in along the way is magical (as well as neat and tidy). This is one of the most incredible walks I have done in the world, let alone New Zealand. I cannot wait to hit the trail again and take along family and friends to introduce them to something truly unique and special.

This is a must do adventure for the average reasonably fit walker. The scenery is stunning. Each day brings new vistas and walking experiences and the accommodation is charming, comfortable and quirky. Ive walked it 3 times, the last with my 2 adult daughters and their partners - a special experience, happy memories. There are challenges for the not so fit, a longish uphill climb on day one, with long downhills too but all very achievable and satisfying arriving at Flea Bay. The kayaking in the bay the next morning was also a highlight with hectors dolphins swimming round the kayaks - magical.I would love to do again one day and would recommend the 3 day walk - it makes it a holiday with time to enjoy and relax too.

My husband and I walked the Banks Track in early February 2019. We were grateful for fantastic summer weather and starry nights. We live locally but it really did feel like a world away. No cell phone coverage was a real bonus for a busy person like me, to get away from it all. We feel very privileged to have this on our back doorstep and we loved every moment of it soaking in the magic of the sun and the incredible diversity of wildlife, scenery and experiences. The Banks Track offers a top rate experience for any one that loves nature and the outdoors with the added bonus of comfortable accommodation for relaxing in the evenings. It was great that we didn't have to carry our packs and a double bed was waiting which we booked prior. This is eco-tourism at its very best. It’s more than a track. It’s a journey that reveals the Peninsula’s natural history, its extraordinary scenery and abundant wildlife. It’s a showcase of the people who love the Peninsula and their tireless work to keep it preserved for future generations, at the same time sharing it with the world.

Last week a group I walked the track along with 8 friends. I last walked the track about 18 years ago and wondered how good it would be this time. I'm happy to say that it was even better than I remembered it. We had so much fun and scenery and accommodation was superb. We loved the cliff tops and bush sections with all the waterfalls. We loved the cute cottages and being able to buy treats from the wee shop at Stony Bay. Kevin and Ben - the lovely Frenchmen were great hosts showing us the penguins at Flea Bay and taking us kayaking the next morning. Such beautiful landscape which feels a million miles from anywhere but is so easy to get to - would highly recommend this track.
