β β β β β Chinese New Year may not be as heralded here as in other countries where there are large "China Towns" so it's pleasing to see that BNZ makes this effort for the lunar Year of the Rat, in 2020. BNZ has displayed a beautiful CNY design around their ATM, which will be appreciated by the Wellington community.
Bnz is conveniently and centrally located in the CBD in Willis St, opposite Gorman's fashion boutique and offers competitive rates for their various financial products.

β β β β β If you want a Loan for construction of your House, BNZ is not a bank you should consider. When things go bad with build -despite you have financial means to overcome,- bank creates so many hurdles it literally takes 3-4 months to overcome them. This is despite you have everything ready start work. No one care if you banked with BNZ for years. None of the staff wouldn't want to touch your file. I even have cash, surplus assets to fund the part of the build. I got so fed up with them after 3 months of calling, I approached another bank, strangely in 1 working day they issued approval.

β β β β β I had a simple enquiry about opening a new account and requesting contact with a staff member at this branch and was directed to the 0800 number and when I rang was told the waiting time is up to 63 minutes... Clearly service at BNZ is worse than at my existing bank so why should I bother?

β β β β β Avoid this place during lunch hour. To the manager: close up shop if staff are all out for lunch so we know how things work. On the second attempt a week later, the cashier desk offered to help even though my request was not normally served at the cashier desk. That was kind. Thanks.

β β β β β Friendly staff, who want to help! But BNZ has taken away any ability to efficiently handle customer flow. One man at the tellers serving all enquiries from loans, to app help, to change orders. While another staff member is in the middle of the store telling people it won't be long. I waited 25 minutes for a 2 minute change over of cash to coin. Terrible! No reflection on the staff.. but another computer on the tellers desk would have made a world of difference.

β β β β β Friendly staff who are easy to approach and very quick to attend to your needs. The interior design is quite catchy to the eye with a number of smart ATM deposit machines ready to make your banking life simple and efficient.

β β β β β Ex BNZ teller from like 20 years ago so my opinion is absolutely not relevant, worked all branches up to Paraparaumu and before the Rimutaka's, again, my recommendation based on this experience is irrelevant 20 years later. However. Walked into the Willis street branch and kinda felt like I was in a side shop of the movie 'Back to the Future 2', straight up technological gloss being employed. Just wanted to get my eftpos card verified (could do it on line but hey I wanted to trip the nostalgia). Ended up using the app after waiting 15 mins. 5 stars for the gloss.
