About Botanical Gardens
We have a moral and legal requirement to keep people safe and to meet current legislation. Part of these requirements involve developing a Water Safety Plan that identifies the risks in our water supply and how we manage them. We use chlorine to manage the risks in our supply (mainly the risk of contamination in our network).
Also, the current stance of the newly established drinking water regulator in New Zealand (Taumata Arowai) is that all water supplies must have a residual disinfectant in order to ensure protection of public health. While water supply entities can apply for an exemption to move to a chlorine free supply, they are required to provide evidence to demonstrate that public health will not be compromised. On this basis, PDP and their international partners have developed a pathway for NCC to move towards a chlorine free future through the exemption process outlined in the Water Services Bill. However, this is not a quick fix and there is no option to go back to the way things were.

β β β β β Beautiful gardens, a fairly steep walk around the perimeter, you don't need to use the stairs so theoretically wheelchair or baby pram friendly if you're strong enough

β β β β β The toilets need a good clean, more regularly at this venue. The water park is awesome, had a good cool down with the kids there and they showed me how to work the sprinklers. ? the gardens are beautiful too. But waterways need a good clean or fish and snails and pond plants to help keep them clean.

β β β β β Itβs a pretty beautiful garden with various kinds of plants. Iβm impressed by this little garden but I also have to say the number of insects here are amazingly rich too lol. Notice that a few wild walkway can be very slippy. They got some Budgerigars here and they are are very active too, overall a great garden and itβs worth to check out.

β β β β β A beautiful green space near the town centre. Quiet and peaceful with a lot of nice places to sit down and read or have a picnic. Includes an aviary with some cute birds. Ideal for a walk and a relaxing afternoon but not a typical educational or super organised botanical garden as it is for free and more of a communal space.

β β β β β Beautiful gardens and great walking tracks. Birds are beautiful too. Very well kept. Child friendly. Good for picnics and nature walks. Also a great place for family photo shoots with many ideal places that are very artistic. Beautiful tall trees and great flowers and other plants.
