About Burger Wisconsin Kapiti
The first Burger Wisconsin store opened its doors in the Wellington suburb of Wadestown in 1989.
It was the original NZ gourmet burger store and introduced combinations such as Avocado & Bacon and Camembert & Cranberry to the New Zealand takeaway market. We have been a proudly NZ owned and operated franchise since then, and have grown to 24 stores across the country.
While we’re NZ owned, leading the way for delicious healthy food in the burger market, we pay tribute to the history of great burgers through our name Burger Wisconsin, which reflects Wisconsin, USA’s title ‘Home of the Hamburger’.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect example of women empowerment. Prepared and served fresh by the excellent ladies’ team. Their burgers and chips are way healthier, tastier and fresher than the other fast food chain. The premises is clean and attractive. It’s been more than a year that I am being a regular and a happy customer. Even the friends I have taken there had enjoyed their menu. On the top of that, there is a benefit of earning some dollars every time you order through the app. Hope you guys will continue the charm. ?✌️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Although the prices are quite high, you know for sure the money is going into actual quality ingredients and well prepared food. You won’t be eating something super processed which will probably kill you in the long term. They mean it when they advertise good quality ingredients on their website. The sizes were pretty big too.
The burger I ordered (“The California”) was great, it felt close to a homemade burger with the ingredients being much much fresher than an average burger chain. It was also assembled nicely too, none of that slapped together nonsense you see at McDonalds where half the filling has already fallen out before you even touch it. I would have liked the patty to be a little more seasoned but its not that big of a deal since they give you a little salt sachet to add yourself if needed.
The fries were ripping hot, crispy and don’t leave a heavy oil feeling in your stomach as you would feel after eating chips from a cheap Fish N Chip shop. They were properly drained after being fried and were not cooked in oil which had been reused a billion times. The way BW do the chips is a big green flag, love it when chips are done well.
The two women working there did good to make a great first impression, I certainly will pop in again for another burger when I’m around Paraparaumu again.
