β β β β β Super great value per day especially for students on a budget! Camper could have everything you would need. The staff was very accommodating during the whole check in process which was great. It was helpful that it comes with cooking materials for cheaper meals on the road. Very satisfied with my experience using Wicked Campers and would recommend them to others considering an experience like this.

β β β β β Absolute Ridiculously stupid customer service. I had a Car accident in February in one of these van after try and trying to contact Wicked there has been NO correspondent about the matter, 4 months later. We paid for insurance and the other party NEEDS their money to live.

β β β β β Why go with wicked when you could go with jucy?
Nothing more really needs to be said than this. Wicked advertises itself as budget so maybe you wouldn't expect much anyway but we were still disappointed. Having previously hired a Jucy for similar price we instantly noticed the lack of suitable bedding, fridge and curtains.
No one properly explained how to use the vehicle or let us know it came without any bedding. The fridge was just a cool box which we had to purchase ice for. There was also no curtains so absolutely no privacy in the van. Having hired a Jucy this was all included for a similar price.
At the end of the day there is no reason to go with wWcked over a Jucy, they are much better in all respects.

β β β β β Hired a minicamper (car with rooftop tent) for 10 days in December 2017. Total cost was around $1,500 NZD ($150 per day). The Wicked website advertises a circa 2010 Toyota Camry/Nissan sedan vehicle . Upon arrival I was provided with a 2003 Nissan Cube with 220,000kms on the clock. I spent the next 10 days driving around NZ in a lemon car which only had a 30 litre fuel tank (requiring it to be filled every 2 hours of driving) and would struggle up any slight incline and hit over 4,500 rpm whilst attempting to reach the typical NZ road speed limit of 100km/hr. The following day the car was making odd noises so decided to check under the bonnet. The air intake pipe had come loose with a small piece of sticky tape previously holding this together. We called Wicked to potentially swap the car due to the mechanical issues however received quite possibly the worst customer service with no offer for assistance whatsoever and were advised to attempt to fix ourselves. We contemplated cancelling the remaining 6 days of hire (and continue with another car hire operator) however we were told that no refund is possible despite the car being utterly useless yet somehow roadworthy. I highly recommend anyone looking to travel around NZ to hire through a reputable car operator such as Avis/Apex as the cost to hire through one of these companies would have been around $650-$1000 for the same period of time (10 days) for a Subaru wagon or Toyota Rav4 (recommend diesel as unleaded petrol in NZ is expensive) then go purchase a tent/mattress from Kathmandu or K-Mart and either sleep in the car or camp. Avoid Wicked at all costs as driving a lemon for over 1,500 kilometres that cant go the speed limit for 10 days and is insanity.

β β β β β The most horrible ripoff imaginable!! My Dad and I booked a last minute NZ trip so couldn't get a camper van from Auckland to Queenstown, we had to book two separately with the swap point in Christchurch. Our first van with Kiwi campers was great: plenty of room, good bed with bedding provided and lots of storage. We knew the car (wouldn't really call it a van) with Wicked was going to be smaller (and for a similar price), so I didn't have high hopes heading in anyway. Once we picked the car up and got to our campsite in Christchurch, we noticed there wasn't any bedding or pillows. We thought this must've been a mistake, so called them. We were rudely told 'did you read the fine print?' Of course we didn't, who does. And what kind of company makes their customers buy their own bedding when they're travelling? I didn't think that could exist, just ridiculous. Not to mention the electric windows broke and they had to bring us a replacement vehicle. My biggest grievance with them though was their outrageous one way fee. Kiwi campers charged a $250 one way fee, but this is probably fair enough, as we crossed from the North to South Island. But Wicked campers charged a $500 one way fee!! This is just freaking ridiculous seeing that we only went from Christchurch to Queenstown, both on the South Island. Just an absolute joke. I emailed them to complain about all this and of course never received a reply. Stay well clear of this terrible company!

β β β β β Worst company to hire a camper from!
Do yourself a favour and pay the higher price at a different company.
As soon as you get into an accident or damage the car you will get into serious trouble with Wicked in NZ and they will let you bleed till they have all their money.
They offer no support, let you pay as much as they can let you pay and don't stand their word/ contract. We didnt even get our money back that we had to pay to the roadside assistance (which was included in their insurance. The insurance is useless by the way but you have to take it or they make you pay for additional drivers, foreign/int. drivers license and so on). The reason why they can rip you off is because you are most likely a tourist that leaves the country soon after the trip. So you won't have a chance to bring your lawyer and get what you deserve. If you try to contact them after your trip and want something still...sorry but you won't get an answer.
Don't let yourself down to this! I know the prices can be good but what you get for it is not worth it. 1. Old car in bad circumstances 2.Additional payments for insurance which makes it not so cheap at the end because it also doesn't cover anything if you carefully read the contract 3.Total ripoff in case something happens plus they won't help you if you call any of their numbers.

β β β β β Don't do it. Even when you call the roadside assistance number, you aren't talking to anyone in New Zealand. Even the Christchurch number diverts to their Aussie branch. Ruined the end of my holiday. I'm so disappointed.

β β β β β Cheap and dirty. All good until it comes to manage any trouble. Use at your own risk. We are returning customers to Wicked but NZ office is actually terrible.
Our trip costed us an extra $5,000 for a minimal damage (light broken) on the vehicle.
They won't hesitate to take your bond in full without explanation or even replying to email or phone.
