About The Flying Burrito Brothers Wellington

The Flying Burrito Bros. is where smoking guns, winged horses, and chilli chocolate chasing maidens rule.

The Flying Burrito Bros. have landed… the MEX-Gen Brothers from another mother are three great mates from around New Zealand. They joined forces, and are on a mission to have a whole lot of yeeeepppaaahhh fun, creating some awesomely traditional MEXcellent food for Kiwi Mexican food lovers, plus showcase the flair and colour of some fabulous Mexican drinks.

Meet the boys, Antonio, Terry and Muz.

Antonio aka Ants is a city boy from Auckland who loves fishing and the land of the long white cloud. Like Sir Ed; he had a big dream; this dream involved creating the most legendary fried chicken (we reckon he knocked the chilli's out of the bastard) and is the main man behind all our Mexican food creations. When he's not out the back doing the dishes or getting stuck in on the marketing side, you will find him bopping around the Coromandel in his kayak on the hunt for a cheeky snapper or two!

Terry originated from Welly Town and is responsible for finding our original Flying Burrito Brothers restaurant in Wellington way back in the good old days. He spent many years road tripping around New Zealand with his Mexican cousin Pedro, adventuring from the very top of the north island down to the bottom of the south island. The two boys got up to a few shenanigans on their nationwide tour and stopped off at many a local bar, night club and even a good-old Four Square for a sneaky morning after pie! Years of extensive drink "research" and cousin-collaboration, Terry is the mastermind behind the fantastic drink and tequila creations that we get to share with all our Flying Burrito Buddies. After road tripping around New Zealand.

Muz, the founding brother, hails from the wild West Coast of the south island. Don't you be fooled by his relaxed nature and smile; this guy is a super party boy and loves a good "knees-up" Mexican paaarrrdddeee! Muz is in charge of our events and culture at Flying Burrito Bros.

The boys believe that life is all about fun, super yummy traditional and some not so traditional Mexican food and liquor. Sharing food and drinks with your mates or family is an experience, time to relax and have a laugh about nothing at all. They hope to welcome you soon with a big FBB iHola!

We had travelled from Hawkes Bay to a funeral, so a big day. Dinner at FBB's was relaxing, service was really the best, friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were delicious, a great end to our day.

Went there last week and I must say it was quite exquisite. Food was amazing and the chef should be proud! Will 100% go there again and bring the boys. However they have no souvlaki?

The initial service was a really slow to take our orders and get our drinks, but the rest of the service was good. I had the Chilli con Queso starter, which was tortilla chips with a slightly chilli cheese sauce dip. Very yummy dip and not at all spicy. For mains I had the Mole Blanco, chicken in flour tortilla covered in white sauce and cheese which I hadn't had before, and it was really tasty. You also got to try their watermelon cocktail - so good! Always a very vibey loud restaurant. Great for families.

Always good to get meals you don't do often. Mexican food can be messy to make at home so heading out to get it is so much better. Walked in and headed downstairs where it was nice to get out of the cold Wellington wind. Its warm with low light so I'm thinking its perfect for a first date. Got a good rundown of the drinks for the evening and they have some good options for a Mexican style drinking session. Had the Fajita and the Burrito. Both were great. Had to leave early as we had dessert at home waiting. It was a hard thing to walk away from the banana chimichanga though. Did think about staying. Will have to come back instead.

Where we were sat was cute and tucked away nicely with loads of privacy however the lighting was terrible and I couldn't read the menu without a flashlight. The food was great we had a couple of the tacos and would highly recommend the mushroom one! For drinks we had the margarita jugs one slushy and one on the rocks. The classic slushy wasn't very good didn't taste of much at all. Although the one on the rocks we had was their mango fruit one, this one was awesome.

Enjoyed this so much went twice in a week. If you are a Texan a little home sick for some texmex give it a go. I had the fajitas and my husband the pork enchiladas and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good atmosphere, food is always well presented and tastes good. Nice to go for a intimate meal but equally as good for a bigger group too. I would say the value is good for what you get!
