Such a cute little campsite. Alex was super helpful with informing us of the tide times for Wharariki Beach and where the more 'hidden' spots were, even offering to let us hang our things to dry in their house after we got caught in torrential rain. The camp itself is small but it didn't feel too cramped or over crowded for us. Facilities are clean and the kitchen is well stocked with pots/pans/plates. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved this simple iconic kiwi campground and used it as a based for kayak and paddleboard trips ( during high tides). Lots of ( rare) birdlife and seals. The cabins are comfortable and clean the other facilities are basic. Very friendly and helpful owners. We stayed for 5 days it was so good. This is on our list of "return for another kayak holiday".

I regularly travel and stay away from home for my job but I was so impressed with the Customer Service of the hosts at Farewell Gardens. The Cabins there are beautiful, despite some “off” weather my partner and I felt warm and cosy inside during the day and overnight. The Camp had everything we needed and was located perfectly for our planned activities over our three day stay.

It is one thing to be ecological and another thing to be stingy. You have to pay for hot water in the shower and the water doesn't come out hot. Doesn't last the minutes it claims to last. The bathroom light is censored and turned off every 30 seconds!! you can't take a shower or pee without being in the dark . The kitchen smells funny

It is a small holiday park for couples and families in Puponga, suitable to stay for few nights if you plan to see Wharariki beach, Farewell spit and Cape Farewell.. The hospitality of Nicky is outstanding, she lend few towels too. The cabin is clean, simple and basic. It is run by solar, kitchen and shower water are rain showers. No tv and wifi, it will let you take a break from the devices and noise. We have enjoyed our 3N/4D stay. When I return to Puponga, I should stay here again.

An absolutely awesome getaway tucked away at the most northern point of the South Island. Stunning beaches and oh so quiet. Truly peaceful and relaxing. The camp sites are perfectly sheltered, not to much sun to make the tent unbearable but just enough to keep it warm. Laying in the tent watching the shadows from the trees play over the roof - in comfort! Facilities are clean, practical and well stocked - and no, you don't need to shower or toilet in the dark as another claims! Location is perfect for exploring the area (see photos) - and OMG - the birdlife and birdsong, especially in the mornings - it's magical! A truly wonderful way to wake up. The host's are lovely, welcoming and friendly - and with a little brandy Christmas cake hilarious! We have tried all the camp grounds in Golden Bay area now and Farewell Gardens Holiday Park is the stand out. We'll be back again for sure and we're looking forward to seeing you there!

Charged $40 for 2 adults to pitch a tent in uneven ground for 1 night. Extra if u wanted a shower. No seating or table in our area and treated like we lucky to be there. You wonder why locals don't support you - wouldn't recommend
