★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome drive to this place. Very odd spot to find this devise of unknown purpose supported by Hoosier Racing sprint car tires..... caught my eye being in race industry and living in Speedway Indiana, USA not far from manufacturing of there racing tires. Kiwi ingenuity at it's best I say

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was extremely windy when I was there but still really enjoyed the walk on the beach. Did the 4km. Then crossed to go on the other side of the beach but had to get back due to the wind. Still the part in the middle is really worth it to go. Really beautiful

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very lovely walk across paddocks to the sand dunes, unfortunately the wind was so strong on the beach that it felt like we were standing in the middle of a sand storm. Had to turn back after a while, because it wasn’t enjoyable at that point anymore.
Wouldn‘t recommend going on a very windy day like ours but other than that the views were great and you can spot some beautiful peacocks and other birds around the carpark.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most exciting experiences in the area. Plan your visit during low tide. Watching baby seals being playful is not to be missed!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you like hiking and have 3 hours you have to do this. The dunes are amazing and the beach immense.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great walk to see a completely different view of New Zealand. The beach is stunning and the dunes around you look great. We did the 10km round trip walk, and while it was great, once you got onto the beach part (after the 4km walk), it wasn't clearly signposted and we were having to heavily rely on Google maps to even know when to turn back in. The parts prior to this had signs pointing where to go, but once you were on the beach there was nothing.
We had a few birds dive bomb us, so watch out for that too!
A great walk though, and if you have 2 hours to spare the 10km round trip is a great sightseeing tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place, picturesque, but do make sure you have enough time and don’t trust the estimate time on the board, the track mark isn’t perfectly clear at the end.
