★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The fish wasn't the nicest it was served on a chopping board thst IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH and the fish was oily and gross waitress keep on coming to our table every 10 minutes and she waited for my grandad to finish his meal she was just stand there waiting for him to finish and the dessert I got the pasion fruit bluer it was nice the passion fruit ice cream wasn't the best and there was this bread thing that tasted like cardboard so don't go to this place

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had dinner at Flames on 40 two nights in a row! We almost tried everything from their dinner menu. The best part was when their restaurant manager came to our table and gave us samples of the wines we were looking at ordering and gave us some really great tips which one goes with each type of food! It’s fine dining alright but the food is really delicious. The staff were all pretty amazing too! A favourite in Nelson City. They’re just about 15 mins away from Nelson airport.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here twice now and will go there more too! The staff are so welcoming and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Especially the head lady - wish I new her name. Fantastic service. Both times the place filled up fast, might pay to book ahead. Good menu to choose from, with a few vegetarian options. Good wine options. Reasonably priced. Decor clean and tidy. Food was delicious both times. This time we had the vegetarian gnocchi dish with side of garlic veges and the roast beef special, plus sticky toffee steam pudding. Yums!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The service was impeccable and it was really refreshing to see the waitresses happy in their work. The food was amazing and there was no long waits between courses. I would highly recommend this friendly happy restaurant

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For a Monday night it was rather busy. The staff were doing a great job checking in, taking orders, serving etc we actually appreciated being left to enjoy our meals. When staff did check in they were all so lovely, polite and up for a laugh. The meals were scrumptious. Highly recommend the seafood chowder. Another great experience here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our time here tonight was very enjoyable. The dining area was lovely and warm & the staff, effortlessly friendly and welcoming. Our two young children were very well looked after and especially loved their ice cream sundaes to end. My husband ordered the steak & I had the salmon. Both meals were absolutely delicious! We would highly recommend to friends & would definitely return again. Thank you :)
