★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely spot on the wharf with a view of whale island. Lovely sea breeze. Very generous portions of food and a nice assortment of drinks. Tidy clean shop and the same with the outdoor seating area. The staff are professional and friendly and helped us with the best deal for our needs. Made our visit to Whakatane an even better experience before heading off back home to Te Puke.

As for food we had wedges which was delicious. To say that they're busy, was a understatement customers rocking up all the time.
Hats off to the cook Amber and her work colleague, who didn't miss a beat or order

I walked in late, just after they had just finished mopping the floor. The smell of bleach gave me confidence they were a hygienic outfit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I haven't had fish n chips in a long time so thought I'd give Gibbo's a try as it was highly recommended to me. Well I was very impressed. Tidy and clean shop with a few tables inside, but they are definitely spoilt with the stunning setting outside looking over the harbour out to Whale Island. Staff were friendly, very generous portion sizes, crispy batter and crispy kumara chips. Never had such nice kumara chips before. Best fish n chips I've ever had. Best part is sitting on bench seats outside enjoying the meal with beautiful view. Highly recommended.
