★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best to come for a swim and a icecream with the family.
Chicken was void of all moisture or fat very very healthy, and the skin roasted till it could be used at a bullet proof vest.
Gravy is not what it use to be, lacks flavor now, the the deep fried food is on point, yummy creamy potatoes, sweet moist pumpkin and fresh crispy fries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Once our weekly ‘go to’ … but that was many years ago. I’ve no idea how many times the place has changed hands since Gary (who set up the original) and Ken (his trusty ‘hand prepared chips’ man). Their chicken was sublime … moist and tender … cooked to perfection … gorgeous crispy skin (the wings were always fated to be a little ‘crispy black’ in their exposed position on a charcoal rotisserie). Chips cooked to perfection (admittedly subjective), just right crispy outside, ‘all through’ floury inside. Sadly, no more. Dry (ish) stringy chicken, lank skin with a few crispy bits. Chips ‘nuked’ on the outside, barely beyond crispy (undercooked) on the inside … crispy ‘inside’ chips … not good. Take off the first star you have to ‘donate’ to start a review and this is a 50% experience (at best). We go back at increasingly lengthy intervals in the hope of improvement. This was perhaps our very last.

The chicken was awful. Very dry, burnt and stringy.
I doubt this was cooked today. It looked old and reheated. We won't be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service was slow, struggled to understand what the Indian lady was saying. Her English behind her mask was difficult to understand.
I asked for my whole chicken to be cut into 8 pieces, fail , they cut it into quarters.
Need to sharpen up there services, lots of tables had dirty trays and boxes attracting the birds to feed off them. Not a good look or experience today for this iconic business ? I am a local and disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Technically hot, and technically chicken... But nothing else more than that. It tastes exactly as burnt, dry and under seasoned as the picture looks. They have a special skill to make even non breast meat dry, which was incredible...just do yourself a favour and buy a hot chicken from the supermarket before you come to the beach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time in Napier, and friends brought us here. Chicken is a must try *ofcourse!, very juicy, tender, and not overly dry---though might benefit for a little bit of roasting! The kumara and potatoes are yum, gravy might need a bit of salt and pepper. Chips are salted and crisp, loved them to be honest! (I hate soggy ones!)
Price is reasonable for the serving size, accommodating staff, waiting time is okay-ish, it was a busy moment when we arrived but waited for about 5mins before our food got served (despite the fact that our group was a large one!).
