β β β β β Fantastic campground in the far north, just off of 90 mile beach. Facilities were excellent, and the camp a really good price.
Only thing to note: Google maps directions are wrong! Follow the 1 until pukenui, and turn off on to Whalers Road. Turn on to Hukatere road, and follow this until it hits the beach - just before you can see the camp. Google tries to take you left at the forestry round about - this is wrong, and the road is a private closed road!

β β β β β Gabi & her sweet dog Kepper are the perfect hosts. A beautiful, simple campsite with all the facilities you need! Lovely comfortable cabins, warm showers & clean bathrooms and a delightful kitchen & outdoor dining area for watching the epic sunsets. Thank you Gabi!

β β β β β Hukatere Lodge is a rustic, classic, kiwi campground. The facilities are basic but clean and accessible, and all you need if your spending a night or two at the beach. Gabby the camp host is a ray of sunshine, so kind and welcoming. Great place to stop while doing to Te Araroa Trail

β β β β β For those having a trouble finding this campsite with google map: If you come from the south side, somehow google map takes you to the Ogle drive which is closed. Instead go to Pukenui -> Whales Rd -> Hukatere Rd -> when you see a roundabout go straight (not left!) -> keep going straight then you will find the campsite.
Great campsite overall, very close to the 90 miles beach, good price, fully equipped kitchen and a hot shower(saved my life). The owner was really friendly too :)

β β β β β Nice camp ground behind the dunes of Ninety Mile Beach. Plenty of space. The cabin I stayed in was basic but perfectly adequate. Two gas stove tops in the kitchen and a nice view. Hot showers. Would stay again.

β β β β β Gabi's Hukatere Lodge is an incredible place to stay, isolated and private on the Ninety Mile Beach. The kitchen has everything that self-catering travellers need and is open to a large dining room and living space, offering a beautiful and unique place to cook, enjoy a communal dinner, and unwind. The individual bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The large bathroom is very suitable and clean, and you can also relax in a private bathroom with a beautiful soaking tub with views of the surrounding hills and amazing sky. To top it all off, Gabi is a fantastic host. Super generous with her time and advice and genuinely wanted you to have a good stay. Thank you and we will be back again. In summary: highly recommended!

β β β β β While tramping the Te Araroa Trail I stayed at Hukatere Lodge. The weather was very wet the day I arrived so Gabi, the owner, suggested I would be more comfortable in one of the rooms, which was most appreciated. The next day the weather was unbelievably worse so decided to stay an extra day. The following day was brilliant sunshine so I thought it was a good opportunity to dry my gear out and continue the next day. I highly recommend Hukatere Lodge, if you like a basic but very welcoming and nice place to stayβ¦.

β β β β β Incredible place to stay! Facilities were nice and clean. With plenty of places to picnic and enjoy the view. Short stroll to the beach to soak up the sun or play in the small dunes or spot some wild horses. Nice slow pace with plenty of open space for kids to run around. Access to food is a short drive away and the drive to the cape for more walks is about an hour away. Our host was wonderful. Super lovely and approachable. Checking in and offering info on things to do. The sunset is a real beaut! Just a really really great place to unwind and enjoy
