★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 100% MUST VISIT!!! Truly Magical, Stunning, Amazing, and times Out of this world!!
Pick the right time of day, and this reserve truly is magical! If your stopping here for any reason, you have to get out of the car and walk around.. there is soo much more to Keeley's Reserve than the boat ramp, ski ramp, and camping areas!
The blue skies and sunshine of summer combine with Lake Karapiro to not only deliver stunning photo opportunities, but a place that can feel tranquil, peaceful, calming, and...yes.. truly MAGICAL!
Plan your visit for a summers morning (believe me when I say sunrise is THE time) for the true, magical, and mystifying experience. The mist on the lake, with rowing teams practicing, and hearing their oars in the water and voices from the distance. But at that time of day the entire place seems to be acoustically modified .. hearing voices from afar as if they are right on shore with you.
I've re-written this review to this version, as over time my impression of Keely's Reserve keeps getting better... and better!
100% - MUST SEE!! check out the photos.. and when travelling the Waikato.. plan to go to Keely's Reserve!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Trees on far side of river now cut down. Cue downgrade in prettiness.....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good mid-roadtrip spot to stop and have a picnic along the water to watch the powerboats and jetskis have their fun. Looks like a stop for campers as well. There are bathrooms but were pretty rank.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing Freedom Camping Area, toilets are maintained, the view is amazing, and the people are great, only downside was the falling branches, 2 fell in the time we were there, after the second we left. It gets a bit busy with the weekends with all the locals with their jetskis and boats at 7am til late at night. But overall great place,
They've cut down a few more of the trees and cleared the place Abit much more work needed though and those toliets are shocking still....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A good fun place to launch you water vessel and also spend the day. Facilities are as good as can be expected for a remote location. Grounds always well kept

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice spot just off the main highway to stop for that break or to use the toilet. Lots of shade and good views of the river. I didn't see any tables or park benches there though would be perfect if there were some.
