About Labtests

Our Laboratory

Labtests has been providing pathology services to the Auckland community since August 2009 and is one of the few laboratories to achieve full IANZ accreditation in its first audit.

At Labtests we recognise the importance of highly qualified staff, inspired leadership together with advanced information technology and automation to achieve service excellence.

Our purpose-built, state of the art laboratory was designed for optimised efficiency.  As part of our approach we have invested in one of the world’s largest Siemens Labcell® system, which contains eleven analysers.

From the moment the test tube is placed on the track, the Siemens LabCell® is able to manage the sample, recognising precisely where it needs to go and then routing it for optimal efficiency. This reduces the number of steps required to sort, process and archive samples.

Labtests has also invested in a Sysmex Haematology Sample Tracking (HST) line that manages thousands of blood samples a day with minimal downtime and operator intervention. Once a sample is loaded, there is no technical intervention until results are validated.

By removing unnecessary physical handling of the samples, the HST line cuts down any room for human error, increases safety, accuracy, and speed. The modular, flexible design of the HST line also allows for unlimited expansion and updating as capacity or technology advances.

Labtests has invested in robust information technology systems. We have 100% redundant capacity built into our IT system to protect against system or equipment failures.

Our Services

Labtests puts patients first.  As part of our commitment to the Auckland region we have over 50 collection centres in addition to working with GP practices for the collection of samples.

As part of the Auckland Regional District Health Board (ARDHB) contract, we provide a range of pathology services for all GP’s, public hospital clinics and Midwives for diagnostic testing for eligible patients.  Labtests will also provide commercial services for non funded requests.

Our pathologists are available to provide all clinicians with expert advice and interpretation to assist in the patient’s ongoing management and care.

In addition to laboratory testing, we provide extended services at the request of health practitioners.

I see that there are quite a few negative reviews of this Labtests location. I am sharing my experience. I came to Labtests at 8am on a Friday. This location opens early at 7am, and I was the only one there at the time. There are entrances to the building on both Queen st and Lorne st. When you walk in you need to approach the reception desk and grab a card with a barcode and number on it, scan the barcode and take a seat. When it is your turn your number will be called. Being the only one there, a staff member came out shortly after I sat down. I handed her my barcode and my paperwork. I am not very experienced with blood tests but mine went fine I think. The lady asked me questions about allergies to latex, any history of fainting when having bloods taken etc. The blood drawing went fast and was not very painful (Though it was sore when she removed the needle). Overall my experience was quick and efficient. No complaints from me.

Took a chance amidst the bad reviews as it is the closest to home. Came past 9am and its empty, i was the only one for bloodtests. Ryza, the Filipina phlebotomist was friendly , welcoming and nice. She was also gentle when taking blood. Possibly all the bad staff from previous reviews were gone?

I hope the Labtests management will do something about reviews in regard to staff's rude, and disrespectful manner towards the customers. This morning, 09/05/22 I came in for a blood test. As soon as I arrived I got a card and swiped it to determine my number in a queue. But then I thought since I'm in the lab I have to enquire whether they do PCR test for international travel. I was about to ask the lady receptionist/phlebotomist but when she saw me standing by the reception desk she ordered me to sit down ( in a very rude and disrespectful way as if she is talking to a child) and wait for my number to be called. I haven't finished my question yet and she replied to me that the details are posted outside the door and online, and that she does n't have an answer for me as everything I want to know can be found online (again in a very rude way). Unfortunately, she was the one who took my blood sample, while in the room she said something like she's the only one working at the moment (which is not the case as I saw another lady attending to other patients). But I was quick to tell her she could have said it in a nice way. If this lady cannot handle the pressure of working on a face to face role with customers, she should not be working in this kind of job. I felt humiliated by this person. I think she might be the same person who also received a negative review about her rude behavior. I don't know why she still works there.

While I understand the immense pressure staff are under, staff have to be mindful that there are some very sick people who call through. I found Jonathan to be rude & obnoxious this morning when ringing to ask a question. He also cut me off before I could finish my sentences. And at the end when saying good bye, he disconnected the call so quickly, he cut himself off.

I'm always a bit weirded out by some of the low reviews of this place so I've decided to finally leave a review to counteract. I've NEVER had any problems here after coming here for about 6 years for bi-monthly tests. They're fast and efficient, and definitely not rude. The phlebotomists I've had are brief but polite and some will have a chat with me as we go. I don't want to sit in this place for longer than I have to and it suits me too if we quietly do our checks and then I'm off on my way. Never had any unnecessary pain or problems at all. Now, after one of the ladies let me know, I always make sure I eat well, have plenty of water and keep warm before a test to help my blood flow better. Easy as.

Quick and easy service. The nurse working on Saturday, an Asian lady, is so skillful! My vein is a challenge for a lot of nurse. Normally takes sometime to pat and find. She did so confidently with no problem or pain. Very impressive!

I stopped by and it wasn't busy. Gradded a number from the counter and didn't have to wait long to get seen. Blood test was in and out.
