This place deserves more recognition. Easily the most beautiful and scenic spot in the Milford Sound area. A short, leisurely walk through an incredible red beech forest, filled with flourishing moss and bright green plants shrouding the trees. Makes for stunning photos, and there's a clearing down to the lake. We went early morning when the fog was so dense you couldn't see more than 5m across the water, and coming out of this forest to see the pebbles in the water and nothing but whiteness was so magical.

An easy walk and we thought is was some normal rainforest walk. However, after we see the photo that night, we realised how stunning it was! The greens is what we don't have in the city. Simply enchanting. And it feels like walking down a scene in Lord of the Ring. Must go! #J2ACE

This was one of the most surprising spots in New Zealand. We stopped here on our way back from Milford Sound. It is a one hour walk in a very very beautiful green scenery. Also i recommend the tour for older peoples because it is very easy. My parents would love this tour.

Informative and easy 45 min return walk through a red beech forest. Follow the road signs pointing to Cascade Creek and you’ll find plenty of parking. The start of the track is not very obvious however, you need to look for it. Look for the openings off the path that lead you to Lake Gunn where you will see stunning clear waters and a valley in between mountains. It’s a gem. You may exit the track at the campgrounds which is a different place from the starting point so u might need to walk a few hundred metres back to where you parked.

Great little loop track. Flat and easy, visiting the lake shore at the half way point. Massive Beech trees and a beautiful landscape of moss.

Great place to enjoy a loop walk in the forest! Keep an eye out for the growths on the trees, some of which look like magical fairy tale faces. We went a few minutes down the Lake Gunn outlet path that juts off the loop at one point, and saw a couple of large eels in the water there - worth a try if you're interested in seeing them in the wild!
