★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Didn't enjoy our stay here at all. Very outdated, Place looking very tired. Inadequate heating , toilet needed a good clean and the toilet brush was disgusting. To top off our night after a very emotional day attending a family send off, we were kept awake with people above us having a huge domestic , the language was appalling. I had an elderly lady traveling with me. Sorry but wont be recommending this place to anyone

Was a warm place (after we got a heater that worked)
Needs to have blackout curtains as they leave the outside lights ALL NIGHT and was really light in the room
Needs to be repaired as a few things were broken. And needs to be updated as the wallpaper was old and pealing off the wall.
Beds were ok
Was basically clean
Small rooms but ok if you need a room for the night
But NO will not be bad and do not recommend

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Hosts are extremely polite and very helpfull. The decor is very retro but the new owners are adding new furniture etc. Great location, great price and even has a beautiful clean pool to cool off in. Great stuff guys. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Steve

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Floor hadn't been vacuumed. Owners tried to charge a $100 deposit. Stayed there about 5 years ago and it still looked the same run down. No proper setting by the pool , pool was dirty. Paid for a room that had 5 beds but only needed 3. Owners were rude looking at us like thieves or runaways. Bathroom was run down. Wouldn't go there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Room was Very dusty, smudges on mirror, hair on pillow. Very dated room. Electrical hazards everywhere ( power pack on headboard, cords hanging everywhere), Soap scum in bathroom. How is this place even open. The lady in the reception is very rude and was at my door at 9.30am telling me our check out time is 10am.. everybody knows check out times are at 10am. Also others we were staying with saw her drying/wiping dishes with what looked like a dirty rag whilst cleaning a room. Im sorry about the bad review but just giving a honest opinion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The motel was fine. It was clean & quiet, had everything we needed for the night. The only thing we didn't like was the mattress, I'd never felt anything so soft and 'sinky'. We both woke up with sore necks. Apart from this though, it was a nice night.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Like other comments on here, the rooms are very dated. Even with a few changes of owner over the years it's obvious nothing has been invested in updating these rooms.
Couch in room very old and stained.
Hot water only warm.
Some lights not working.
Kitchen and bathroom still have decor and fittings from probably 30 years ago.
Carpet is very old and worn.
Pool advertised on website has been closed since last Winter and worker tells me it's going to be closed permanently. That's another sign that the owners don't want to spend any money on actually improving the property.
Cold water comes out cloudy so if you want a drink you need to let it settle or probably should boil it first.
This could be a really good motel property if owners actually saw it as an investment and not just a quick money grab.
Compare this to the reviews and photos of the Clifton Court motel elsewhere in town where the owners obviously cared about their property. If I go back to Tokoroa I'd look elsewhere first before going back to the Mayfair.
Owners - if you read this, please take all these comments on board and develop the place to match what you're charging.
