★ ★ ★ ★ ★ McRent provided our family with fantastic service. They really went the extra mile for us. We got a campervan that was a great set up for our family of 5 at quite short notice during a very busy period. There were a couple of minor issues with the camper (a shower that didn't work properly and a catch missing off a cupboard), but the speed at which they made it available and their willingness to be flexible for us when we were late getting back into town really made up for these. We found them reasonably priced and a great vehicle to drive. Thanks for our awesome family holiday McRent!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everything great, but had to pay $115 for a stone chip on windscreen from oncoming vehicle that we had thought would be covered by their insurance glass cover (like all our personal cars). Only way to avoid the charge would have been to take out "extra cover" with McRent to the tune of $79 per day for no excess.
Still happy though!

Nothing was too much hassle. the vehicle itself was great, modern, easy to use and felt very safe. Well done McRent team we will be back. Isobel and Oliver at the Chch branch are awesome to deal with.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ McRent is definitely the very best place to rent a campervan in Christchurch ?! The vehicles are brand new, well thought and equipped with everything you need and even more! We did 6,000 km in 52 days both islands, drove up and down a lot of steep roads in the winter and had zero issues! Right from the start we were in touch with Claudia, who is not only a lovely person but helped us with everything from ferry tickets, airport transfers, extensions and recommendations for our journey through this beautiful and breathtaking country! The teams in both offices Auckland and Christchurch are extremely friendly, made us feel welcome and proofed to be well beyond any other campervan company out there! Thanks guys, it's been the journey of our lifetime! ?✌️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did a 15 day trip around the South Island in July in a McRent Campervan & did over 3,000 k's! The Camper was awesome & comfortably housed 4 adults + 2 bikes! The beds were very comfortable & we had more than enough linen. One dash-light problem which meant we had to test out the road service but the woman on the phone was efficient & helpful (resolved within 1/2 hr). Camper was also really good to drive with all the distance we covered. Thank you to the McRent team!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We hired a campervan from McRent NZ in the winter school holidays (July 2021) and I cannot fault the campervan or their service.
The initial booking was made via email through the Auckland branch and then we collected the campervan from the ladies at the Christchurch branch. We had previously been sent video instructions for how things worked in the campervans that helped to prepare us for our journey and cut the time at pick up down.
We travelled in a group of 5 families and had 3 different models of campervans between us all - every model was great.
We had free transfers from the airport (and we didn't have to wait) and then we were shown through our campers that were all only about a year old. In the office they had a box of "leftovers" (grocery items that others had left behind when returning their campers) that we could pick from - great to grab some dishwashing liquid and salt/pepper etc!
The heating system was perfect to keep us cosy throughout our journey despite it being the middle of winter, and we stayed off-grid the entire time - not plugging in to power once. We freedom camped every night, and the travel during the day was enough to ensure the power was topped up.
We discovered our fridge wasn't working the first night (bad luck seeing as the campervan was only a year old) and were given a temporary fix (portable 12v cooler box) until they could replace the fridge the following day. We were refunded for our taxis and compensated for our time while it was fixed. We had no issues the rest of the trip.
The campervan was modern, equipped with everything we needed, and our kids loved the bunk beds at the back (we had a 6 berth). We loved the experience so much that we booked again to do another trip next year.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had booked our Luxury Comfort Motor Home with Claudia in Auckland, and picked up at Christchurch Depot. The team is very helpful and considerate, we enjoyed our entire trip especially the kids. Compared with the other Motor Home we hired couple years ago, this is a fancy version of Home Away Home with spacious lounge area, separate toilet and bathroom and also convertible beds...The vehicle was operated by gas without plug in to power site, so we had been been on freedom camp for couple of days and loved it! High recommend this Motor Home if you are looking for a safe way to travel during pandemic. Thank you McRent for the unforgettable memories of our family adventure!
