β β β β β Friendly new owner has some great pub food, cold beers, and excellent service. As a tourist this was a fabulous place to pop in after a long hike.

β β β β β Sorry were late writing this but we stayed last March at Mt Somers camp site for a lot longer than we planned, partly down to Max and Sandra and the locals. All very welcoming and friendly.Good beer, great steak and lots of laughs, what more could you want.We are returning to Kiwi in February and hope they have found a buyer but would also like to meet again. You deserve good fortune whatever happens, thank you both for making our stay.Sandy and Kim.

β β β β β Been here a few times, often I'm too late coming out of the mountains to get their dinner service. Last night, I made it back early enough to get the rugby world Cup and their steak dinner with my partner. Publicans were on form! Great banter and even better steak, chips and salad. Lovely evening. I've been told they're looking to sell, time for them to their feet up which is fair enough. Best of luck, hope this awesome tavern gets another set of owners to match!

β β β β β Greeted in a rather bizarre way by the owner, who is an elderly man in his 60 I guess. Access to the bar is via an airlock as if you are entering the surgical block in a hospital. We manage to access the bar after having our sanitary passes checked for which we were asked to say out loud the name which is written on it (?) We got into the bar and assisted by the same person who told us that the bar closes at 7:30pm while it is written 8pm on the door... In short we order 3 scoops of fries with a fish and a beer each, the fries arrive, the cutlery loosely thrown on the table without a hint of delicacy, unsalted fries 1 small cup of mayonnaise for 3 scoops, I had to get some salt from my van by fear of getting told off. Finally, we were asked to pay $1 to contribute to the electricity to charge our phones, which I paid in front of the bewildered gaze of my friends, then seeing that we were charging 2 phones on the mural plugs, we were asked for $1 again. I find it really absurd to be welcomed in this way, especially when the bar is empty and we are the only customers apart from a man who also found it funny. The question we ask ourselves is how would it have happened if we were Kiwi?? You're just being ridiculous, could that be why the bar is empty on a Sunday afternoon?
