★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small hidden gem on a hill, just minutes away from the center of wanaka.
Mountain View is quite the unique hostel. It provides what you need and expect from a good kiwi accommodation: a helpful reception, clean rooms, good showers and beds, a kitchen and parking spots.
The fact that it’s small is a big factor (31 beds) in their success. But the unique part is the staff, who mingles with the guest together wonderfully.
A very International reception gives the perfect start of your stay. They (cc) are helpful but most important want to give a personal, appropriate opinionated advice. Always delivered with a genuine kiwi smile. It’s the staff from France, USA, NZ, Sweden, Chile that are great and add a heart and sole to Mountain View.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed here for 7 weeks and absolutely loved it! Sarah and the backpackers working there keep it very clean and tidy and the hostel is very close to the lake and the supermarket. What made me stay here is the homey, cosy community vibe. Everyone is very welcoming and we often cooked and skied together or had a bonfire by the lake. Lovely garden with fresh herbs and lovely friends included ❤

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a great hostel this is. It's a very cosy hostel, a very nice staff, clean sleep- and bed rooms + a kitchen with great pans to cook with. Especially the last is what most hostels lack, and still very handy to use. A big recommendation from me if you're staying in Wanaka!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice and cosy hostel, feels more like a huge home with loads of flatmates than a hostel. Really good vibes. There's a garden with seating areas, comfy lounge. Clean bathrooms and kitchen. Rooms are comfy and reasonably sized. If you have any questions, Sarah and her staff are really nice and always happy to help.
Love it here! Would totally recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely place in Wanaka, I was feeling like home after spent more than 6 months in this hostel! Garden, cosy lounge, not to big so not busy, directly in the town, free parking too. Love this place!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent hostel with very helpful and friendly staff. FYI: The reviews mentioning it being dirty are from a few years ago, before it changed management. It's pretty spotless now. Clean, cosy, friendly and well located. What more could you ask for!
