Great experience to see a kiwi in its natural environment. It took us a few hours before we finally saw one, so you will need patience, warm enough cloths and mosquito protection. The whole experience was amazing and Ian was a great guide.

We did the tour with Ian and it was everything we hoped it would be. A true experience and guided walk to spot a kiwi in the wild. Highly recommend taking this tour for those who love bird spotting. You will require PATIENCE to be rewarded with a unique encounter.

Highly recommend this tour. Ian is informative, professional but also humorous. You are entering the kiwi world without disturbing it so you have to be patient and let the kiwi do what it wants to do. You may not realize how long you can stand still listening and waiting in the dark but there other birds, sandlies and the night sky to enjoy. It ìs all worth it when Ian somehow works out where the kiwi is likely to emerge and there it is! We followed it along the road-they can move surprisingly fast- and then it went into the bush. But it reappeared and was feeding just 2m in front of us. What a buzz. Like all tourism businesses he has been affected by covid so great time to do the tour with only 3 of us. Go do it.

Brilliant tour out in the bush at night. We saw a Rowi, the Okarito brown kiwi going about its business. Wonderful experience and best of all we didn't impact the bird at all.

Fantastic tour with Ian! His passion, knowledge, and dedication to conservation of the Okarito kiwis, one of the rarest birds in the world, is truly contagious. We were so fortunate to be able to see a kiwi in its natural habitat, emerging from his burrow at dusk and then foraging along the side of the road. There are fewer than 500 okarito kiwis left in the wild and seeing one was such a memorable experience, definitely a highlight of our trip! The tour was worth every penny and more, but remember to bring lots of warm clothes and patience. Wholeheartedly recommend!!!

We came within 2 feet of a beautiful male kiwi. We could hear him sniffing. Experience of a lifetime and Ian is an excellent guide. Thanks so much, loved the whole evening.

Experience of a lifetime - we still can't believe that we saw a kiwi in the wild. Thank you so much Ian! PS: If you are thinking about booking a Kiwi Tour please bear in mind that you have to be very patient and be able to stand completely still and listen for a while.
