β β β β β Great camp ground. Very friendly and welcoming. Must be one of the best spots for a sea fishing base in NZ plenty of boat parking, boat washing station and fish filleting station. Bring your boat or canoe launch straight from the camp ground. Using a provided tractor if needed.
We had some noisey neighbours the first night but the owner visited them the next day and we had no more problems.
A great base for exploring the coromandel.
Has tidy and functional kitchen with plenty of space, laundry, 50 cent showers, on site shop, a stoney beach, rope swing, a childrenβs playground, some short bush walks and a cute library.

We were able to sign in 2 hours early & when we left my toddlers favorite toy behind they located it for us, then helped package it up to get it home for us!

β β β β β What an adventure and hidden treasure this place is! Stayed 5 days 4 nights, staff & owners are so incredibly lovely, always happy. Hard workers, attentive and making sure everyone is doing what they're meant to.
Gorgeous picturesque views, especially watching the sun fall into the horizon, and the sunrise from the mountains.
You have 3 choices for accommodation. You can stay in a cabin, or you can reside during your stay in a camper or tent in a power or non powered site.
When swimming, take your aqua shoes! The beach is not sandy, its all peddles and there are baby mussel shells on the rocks in the water so best not to end up with cuts on your feet.
Be prepared for lack of reception depending on your service provider. Being 2degrees myself I had absolutely no service.. which didn't once bother me as it was a fantastic time to reset ready for the new year.
When camping, please for your sanity and the safety of your tent not getting blown away by hefty wind speeds, buy thicker "Papa Aroha" pegs as there are rocks below the surface of the ground and they will annihilate your pegs. You can't buy these at the camping ground so be warned!
Great little estuary area for the kids.
Boats boats and more boats, plus a fish gutting station located near the estuary besides the recycling/rubbish area.
Kids can be free range, had no fears of our stuff going missing. Everyone was chill as, and honestly it's home away from home. For the first time in 2yrs I've not felt so normal!! Thank you Papa Aroha for breathing life back into my lungs. We will be back!! ???

Playground.
Well stocked wee shop. Very helpful friendly staff ? Atmosphere & people were beautiful ?? Gorgeous sunset & views. Will definitely stay there again.
Lots of big Snapper being caught out by mussel farm.
Has everything you need.

β β β β β This is a tranquil get away. Great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating or sunbathing. Cellphone coverage is limited to certain areas, so nobody can bother you. Clean, tidy facilities...a dairy open daily and everyone is so friendly. Competitive pricing....also safe for families with young children with a great swimming hole. Go.., enjoy and relax
