★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beachfront location, which unfortunately we were not able to fully enjoy with the wet weather we had for the 2 days we stayed. We stayed in a Seaview Studio. Excellent customer service and the owner gave some local tips for places to check out. The Grove being one of them, which I would agree

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well worth making the trip to get here. It is a fair hike over Takaka hill, but when you arrive at the beach, it is worth it by a mile. The campground is very well maintained and what makes the biggest difference is the friendly staff. We had a late booking for New Years Eve, so appreciated just having somewhere to stay. They managed to exceed expectations and found us a beautiful spot by the sea.
Facilities are impeccable and everything is well maintained. I would happily make this my regular destination if it was a bit closer to home. Instead I will add it to my list of destinations to return to!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gorgeous location, stunning views, lovely staff and a fabulous place to unwind. We have stayed twice before and are looking forward to our next visit. The sites are a good size, the facilities are clean and in good working order and you're right next to a beautiful, calm beach. The Pohara Store and Takeaway is right next door for anything you may need, plus there's several other places to eat should you wish a break from cooking. Highly recommended.

We stayed in one of the motels, which I’d personally stay clear of. Similarly priced to local Airbnb options at about $350 per night.
Very small rooms, not great amenities. Definitely not worth that price.
Overall a great setting, and very well maintained campsite. But a little bit of a letdown in this area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed here for one night with two young kiss. Good camp right next to the beach. Handy grocery store next door. Really spacious sites.
In our opinion too expensive for the amenities provided. No TV lounge or similar, and disappointing playground.
Also, showers were paid. There are different ways to limit usage than charging extra for it.
You pay premium prices here for the location.
