About Puhoi River Kayak Hire
Puhoi River Kayaks is a small family business operating from our home, adjacent to the historic Bohemian landing site on the banks of the Puhoi River.
‘Puhoi’ is a Maori name and translates to ‘slow-water’ which refers to the slow gentle tide that ebbs and flows the 8km to Puhoi Village from the sea.
On the 29th June 1863 the first 83 Bohemian pioneers were dropped off at Wenderholm and paddled up this meandering waterway by local Maori.
With diverse bird life and ever changing scenery the Puhoi river paddle is a unique experience we are proud to share with you.

George even took a trip to check if we were okay cause it was getting dark(apologies for taking too much time cause we wasted a lot of time taking photos?). Will definitely come back and recommend my friends to come. Thank you George and Kate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Canoeing and Kayaking near Auckland in puhoi valley river is the best experience. Go up or down from or towards Wenderholm Park. Cruising based on tides times takes about 2- 2.5 hours. Best experience.

Just really make sure you keep right at all times (when kayaking) . We went left.. And let's say we turned this trip into real challenge ?.
