β β β β β Great track to go for a run, hike or even a picnic. Totally worth it to go to the view point, and explore the area. Enjoy!

β β β β β The combined walkway / vehicle tracks were also really good with a pram! Just need to clean the wheels. The spraying station thankfully had also handheld sprayers.

β β β β β Lovely family and dog friendly walk. Takes about 25mins to the lookout depending on which way you go. The main route is a little longer and has a lot of stairs, the middle route is shortest but steeper, less stairs and arguably more difficult with tree roots etc. The logger route Round the back follows a fence line. Good fun, not too far from Hamilton

β β β β β What a special reserve - one that I'd never heard of until recently. It has some lovely loop tracks with good quality tracks, some of it on raised boardwalks. There is a good lookout tower at the top - 166 m elevation, but most of the time it is the bush itself that you see and can enjoy.
One of the special thing about this reserve is the amount of native trees. The car park has been enlarged recently thanks to the generosity of a neighbour farmer, so there is plenty of carparking for visitors and trampers. There is a toilet at the logger haulage site, which also has a lovely gazebo to shelter from the sun or inclement weather.

β β β β β NZ wilderness is so close to Hamilton.
This place has a great picnic area seated and old school areas for the picnic rug.
There is a toilet along the bottom track, but it is only for the brave or desperate.
The walk to the top is definitely it worth the view. For those who are like me and don't do this kind of thing every day, please take some water. Stay safe and love life.

β β β β β Nice trail with the family but will not recommend taking a baby with you. Toilets and picnic spot at the base so leave all stuff in the car and keep it simple for the walk. Good footwear required as track could be slippery at places.
