★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a family meal here to celebrate Chinese New Year. The food was authentic and delicious. The quality was excellent and the portions were generous. The staff were really friendly and the food was served politely and efficiently. We will be back here in an instant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is what communal eating is about. Start with the chilli dumplings and take it from there. Everything I've tried has been good, but the salt pepper squid in particular is great; sharp and crisp and spicy. Great friendly service and it's BYO (so expect enthusiastic student tables). Very good value too. You will be full.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You can't go wrong with the chilli oil dumplings, the chicken fried rice or the sweet and sour pork ribs! The potato tower is spectacular as well as delicious. It's a small place so getting in early is a must unless you book ahead. The turn around is quick so no long wait for food. Clean friendly and reasonably priced for the city

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From a few other Chinese stalls and restaurants in Wellington I tried, Ram's was probably the closest to the Chinese cuisine I am used to.
Orange beef and Eggplants with potato were cooked nicely and arrived in 5-10 minutes.
My only complaints are that boiled dumplings were a bit too salty and the rice didn't have too much flavour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered sweet and sour pork. Very very dry, got maybe 5-6 pieces for the whole dish. Weird colour too? Never seen sweet and sour pork that looks like this. Didn’t feel good going down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super extensive menu. Came here after watching a movie at the Lighthouse and wanted a bite.
The steamed bun was massive (but imo filling was not as much in comparison). Otherwise great food and big portions. Had a craving for orange beef.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Heard these folks do the best dumplings, and its true! Portion sizes bigger than the prices, a little hole-in-the-wall place you'd easily walk right past. Definitely my kinda place.
Chilli oil dumplings, prawn crackers and a steamed pork bun.
