★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Judging by the previous reviews, it's really hit and miss with this place - went here for dinner tonight, positive things to note were that my meal was served at a good temperature, tasted fresh and the staff were reasonably quick with service. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't be compelled to return again as it isn't very authentic Indian cuisine (they use white rice instead of basmati, and the curry tastes dulled down to suit Kiwi tastes, with less spice and more sugar than I'd prefer), also they use a lot of single-use plastic with disposable cutlery, plastic bottles and takeaway style bowls used, even if you decide to eat in.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I really like the food here, whenever we come to the Albany mall we always stop here for lunch, and have never been disappointed. I always go for the butter chicken and naan special, personally I really like the flavours. Definitely recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a first time I had a meal here and unfortunately this one was worse than last one. The curry had odd, grainy texture and was average. Previously I had beef madras and was excellent. Sadly, something has changed. Service staff was ok. I may come here again but it won't be soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Poorly disappointed with the food, chewy Naan rock hard chicken literally. Don't know what happened to the quality. Also when you buy a meal you can ask for a drink but they just add it and charge you anyway.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its not the same shamiana as before ... i have always loved their butter chicken but not anymore. They are now using chicken breast in their butter chicken which tastes like rubber. They have always used chicken thighs pieces which were great and yummy. The portion is very small and now they are using the short grain rice which is cheaper than the basmati . NOT GOOD SHAMIANA !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very unhelpful staff. Just paid $18 for a combo butter chicken. Once the rice had soaked up all the sauce I wanted to pay for a little more sauce. No chicken just sauce. They were about to close for the night I was the last customer and first they said could only sell a std meal at $13 then it was $10 for a little sauce. Not smart service as far as I am concerned. Wouldn't return for this reaaon.

I left the job 2 months ago thought of coming in for a curry since the weather had changed and its getting cold lately. Their curry still as good but im very disappointed with their serving size. They curry is now served in a disposable plastic bowl only half of what i had in the past with no more than 4 pieces of meat in them.
