★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our poor washing machine is dying a slow and painful death so after looking at Noel Leeming (normally our shop of choice) and Harvey Norman, we went to see Smith City in Petone on 30 Dec 21. We got greeted by Joel and he gave us his undivided attention the whole time we were in the store. He was very patient with me while I dithered between whether to go with a top or front loader, what the differences were size and capacity wise, explained what different stickers on the machines meant etc and if he didn’t know anything or needed further clarification or confirmation, he would go back to the cash desk, check out the answer and come straight back to us. I did eventually decide on my washing machine and although we are going to have to wait for our machine to come into stock, we went away from there very happy customers. I would like to personally thank Joel for his excellent customer service and attention. You made the experience of buying my new appliance, so much easier and less stressful. I wish we had gone there sooner.

Still dreary old furniture range and they may as well not have a electrical dept as the range is minute.
Where all the Playstation products, headphone options, laptops?
New and interesting lines ??
Same old Smith city, New owners but the same boring feel and outlook.
Expect then to be closed down within 2 years

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Where to start? Web site, I attempted to find out if the item was in stock at my local branch, web site instructs you to contact the branch. Same phone number for all branches. Call it, get put in a queue. Gave up waiting after a few minutes. If they published the ddi for the branch I could have called direct. Go to branch, staff member can't help. Said would get other dude to help me. Mill around waiting, no-one comes. Give up and leave empty handed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Popped in today to help a friend get a new washing machine and had a fantastic experience. We were served by Clinton who could not have been more helpful, he was relaxed, had great product knowledge and made the experience so easy. After going into Noel Leaming in Lower Hutt who really had very poor customer service, this was top notch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wanted to buy a particular electric kettle. Didn't have any in stock at the store, only the display one. They couldn't order one in for me as that took longer to get here than ordering online apparently. The latter option was what they recommended. Third time this has happened to me but with different items. Suspect it is just a showroom, you can't actually buy anything there. Won't be returning. Shop local is the motto that businesses are telling us...yeah, right, I tried, but impossible with this outfit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this new store, very light and spacious. Staff very helpful. Computers froze and lost our order, but staff were apologetic, and over it the problem, resolving as quickly as they could. Definitely worth a visit if you are appliance or furniture shopping. We will definitely be back.
