Stevens Northwest - Westgate
About Stevens Northwest
At Stevens, we believe in building on the best of our heritage and adding a constant flow of new ideas and innovations. That's what keeps us young at heart!
We're a family-owned company first established in 1924, when we opened our first household hardware & kitchen appliance store in Karangahape Road, Auckland called Henry Stevens Limited.
Henry's two sons, Owen and Spencer joined the business in the 1930's and served their apprenticeship until called up for active service during the Second World War. In 1946 Owen and Spencer took over the business as Stevens Bros Limited and over the next eight years two more stores were opened.
By the time Stevens celebrated 50 years in the importing / retail profession in 1976, we had ten stores. It was that time that Owen and Spencer handed over the company's management to the third generation of Stevens sons - Barry, Warren, and Mark.
In 1986, we opened our first store outside the Auckland region in Whangarei, followed by expansion into Hamilton and Wellington over the next four years.
We were known as "Stevens for Gifts", with a focus on dining, collectables and gifts for the home
With the arrival of the new century, we introduced our new store fit-out and focused our efforts more directly on the growing kitchen and homeware market. These modern new presentations were rolled out in new and existing stores in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington and through expansion into Bayfair, Palmerston North and Christchurch.
During 2005, with further expansion in mind, we relocated our support office to Wiri, in a purpose-built distribution centre incorporating fully integrated warehouse management and daily replenishment systems.
We took our gift registry service online in late 2005, giving our customers the ability to buy wedding and other gifts from anywhere in the world. In late 2007, we opened our full Webstore with the complete Stevens product offering, supported by our catalogue, mail and phone order options.
In November 2007 Stevens Bros Limited was purchased by the James Pascoe Group, another family owned retailing icon of New Zealand, which has been operating Jewellery stores in New Zealand for over a century and has retailing interests on both sides of the Tasman. Under the new owners a rapid expansion in both stores and products took place to drive the business forward into the new millennium.
There are now 24 Stevens stores throughout New Zealand. We employ close to two hundred people, many of whom have been with the business from 10 to 40-plus years! After 98 years of trading, we still hold our family-values close to our hearts, making Stevens a very special place to work and shop.

β β β β β Stevens is a store within, and at the South end of the second storey of the FARMERS' shop (after you go up the escalator).
The formal address for the shop/Centre is misleading - resulting in disorientation and mall access problems. The substantial carpark has two access driveways - neither from Fred Taylor Drive. One from the East, Gunton Drive, and the other from the North, Tawhia Drive. Pedestrians can also access the Centre from the West Maki Street.
Stevens has a great range of traditional kitchen equipment plus a boutique collection of more interesting and special cooking and baking equipment/utensils. Find an eclectic gift for that someone special...
The Stevens' team are pleasant happy, enthusiastic and helpful about their products, and about what they do.

β β β β β It wasn't bad but it was too small, they only had a tiny collection of items. However the shopping was still good I love Stevens, that's why you need to make the store bigger.

β β β β β Went looking for a chef's knife after breaking mine, and found a top quality Finnish one at $200. After seeing my jaw drop, the assistant said if I liked the look of it they had an almost identical one at $30. It was perfect, then she mentioned there was a "special" on , and I could have it for $21. One happy shopper.
