Stevens Silverdale - Stanmore Bay
About Stevens Silverdale
At Stevens, we believe in building on the best of our heritage and adding a constant flow of new ideas and innovations. That's what keeps us young at heart!
We're a family-owned company first established in 1924, when we opened our first household hardware & kitchen appliance store in Karangahape Road, Auckland called Henry Stevens Limited.
Henry's two sons, Owen and Spencer joined the business in the 1930's and served their apprenticeship until called up for active service during the Second World War. In 1946 Owen and Spencer took over the business as Stevens Bros Limited and over the next eight years two more stores were opened.
By the time Stevens celebrated 50 years in the importing / retail profession in 1976, we had ten stores. It was that time that Owen and Spencer handed over the company's management to the third generation of Stevens sons - Barry, Warren, and Mark.
In 1986, we opened our first store outside the Auckland region in Whangarei, followed by expansion into Hamilton and Wellington over the next four years.
We were known as "Stevens for Gifts", with a focus on dining, collectables and gifts for the home
With the arrival of the new century, we introduced our new store fit-out and focused our efforts more directly on the growing kitchen and homeware market. These modern new presentations were rolled out in new and existing stores in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington and through expansion into Bayfair, Palmerston North and Christchurch.
During 2005, with further expansion in mind, we relocated our support office to Wiri, in a purpose-built distribution centre incorporating fully integrated warehouse management and daily replenishment systems.
We took our gift registry service online in late 2005, giving our customers the ability to buy wedding and other gifts from anywhere in the world. In late 2007, we opened our full Webstore with the complete Stevens product offering, supported by our catalogue, mail and phone order options.
In November 2007 Stevens Bros Limited was purchased by the James Pascoe Group, another family owned retailing icon of New Zealand, which has been operating Jewellery stores in New Zealand for over a century and has retailing interests on both sides of the Tasman. Under the new owners a rapid expansion in both stores and products took place to drive the business forward into the new millennium.
There are now 24 Stevens stores throughout New Zealand. We employ close to two hundred people, many of whom have been with the business from 10 to 40-plus years! After 98 years of trading, we still hold our family-values close to our hearts, making Stevens a very special place to work and shop.

β β β β β Nice selection of kitchen and tableware, but we weren't able to acquire the items we were looking for. We would like to see more eco friendly items in store. Prices can be high but items on special offer good value. Quality goods and some things we may come back for or add to our wishlist, after concentrating on our current essentials.

β β β β β Love Steven's products and the lady at the counter was lovely. Came and helped me with my things while I looked for my farmers card. Not so impressed with the other ladies. Not a big store and I bought some things and decided to browse for a while. Once you ask if I need anything is fine but to have another run up again and ask again and before I could answer, replied with just browsing? and walked away. She didn't ask anyone else. They need to be careful on what is seen as genuine interest or profiling their customers Not impressed.and looks like a common theme
