Waited 35mins for this food. Food was warm. When I asked the server how long it's gonna take, her reply was "I am so sorry because we have so many orders" So many orders?? Not even 15 customers in the restaurant and they have so many orders? I have been a chef and worked in a Japanese restaurant and Teriyaki Chicken on rice doesn't take 35mins to cook. Especially when the qauntity is this less. Not at all happy. Wasted my 30mins break. Probably hire some more experianced chef.

Been a few other times and those times were pretty good. This time we could tell the wait staff were a little inexperienced, inattentive and easily distracted with chatting among themselves. Once you can get their attention, they are able to help. This branch is more expensive compared to the Chancery sushi train, however, there are way more exciting options. I would say there are close to double the options available here and they are all delicious. Plates here range from $3.50~$8.50, where the Chancery branch has a flat rate of $4.50 on most dishes. Expect to spend on average $35-40 per person without alcohol.

Bought a set of rolls from their takeaway menu. The rolls were half the size of a roll from almost any other sushi shop. I thought I was getting a good deal for the price until I saw the set with 20 rolls was the same size as your average 8 piece set. The pictures on their menu are very misleading. The sushi did taste nice.

Same shop, but definitely not the same sushi train anymore. Last time was a Japan experience...... This time.... Menu soaked with soy sauce.... I was offered paper towels to clean it...thank you, but.... I didnt spill it..... The soy sauce was with menu and they were long enough to soak inside the lamination....... The udon......is epic, i saw the cook signaled the waitress few times to bring it to us after 30mins weplaced the order, but the waitress were too busy talking..... well they must have hard time getting rid of the soy sauce, the soup is 80% soy sauce, taste exactly like Shanghai noodle but in soup, see the photo.... The deep fried potatoes is hot outside, icy inside, felt like I ordered deep fried ice cream, only it is salty. It was a complete disaster, so sad to see a top shop ended up like this.....apart from the Japanese sushi master (seems he is the only one who speaks Japanese in the whole shop) , i don't see any of the staff cares, even the rice gave up sticking together ......

Do not recommend! Have been going there for 8 years. The dinner yesterday was bad. Book for 6pm and they got our time down as 7pm. I’m actually okay with them increasing their price, I understand that. But their staff are not trained. AT all! The waiter, waitress and even sushi chefs were all Chinese in a Japanese sushi restaurant ? Hard to hire ? Okay. None of the chefs were wearing mask and it’s not acceptable for them to scream across the restaurant for communication? Even without covid that’s not hygienic at all ? And the food quality, ouch. Beef was not just cold, but still frozen with ice in the centre, prawns and salmons were also not as fresh as they used to serve. Time to explore new Japanese sushi restaurant.

VALUE: ⭐⭐ SERVICE: ⭐ PRESENTATION:⭐⭐⭐⭐ QUALITY:⭐⭐⭐ CLEANLINESS:⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was my first time at Sushi train as I am new to Auckland and love a good sushi train experience! Sadly, I was confused on how to order. After we had been in there for a bit, I was finally asked if I'd like to order anything, but this was the only time I was asked. I think we were meant to order on a piece of paper but there were no pens, and I didn't feel like sharing pens during meals in covid times. I was seated right next to a huge pile of plates which made me quite claustrophobic. Overall the restaurant not very lively, and it felt rude to talk because it was so quiet. The sushi was really nice and reasonably priced. The sushi chefs were friendly when handing us our meals. My partner and I got the fried chicken, which we thought was expensive. 4 pieces had chewy, inedible parts, and one of mine had a bone. I don't think I have ever spent so much money at a sushi train before ($24 for 8 pieces of sushi and some chicken pieces). I think I will go elsewhere next time.

It was great! The chef was hyping us up to eat the fresh dishes he put on the train. The fish was fresh and we had a great time. Food comes really fast.
