★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Three of us stayed in a house that was shared I others we paid $60 for the room. There was one double bed and 1 single. My wife and I and my 4 year old grandson. The place was clean and tidy and felt safe. We were in a truck and we were able to park off Street on the motel property. I felt like the manager valued us.well done.

For $65 I had a very comfortable double bed in a private room with heating, TV, etc. Everything that the managers and staff could get access to (shower, WC, kitchen etc) clean was scrupulously clean. The building itself is older and a bit worn down (paint finishes, floor etc) hence the price. Wonderful service. Would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat.

Older block in good condition. Clean and comfortable. Quiet a block back from the main thoroughfare in Taihape. You can't go wrong really. 5 stars had I booked early.
Somehow Booking.com screwed up my Credit card. With a days notice I called through to ensure a spot. Coffee and Tea, a 300ml of fresh cold milk. Lovely crisp linen and fluffy white towels. A TV. Free WiFi. Very easy to access. All in all a really comfortable stay with welcoming friendly hosts. Midway up the North Island it's become my layover destination when heading to Wellington. Taihape is Gumboot Capital of NZ. For Motorcycle riders it's the Western end of the Gentle Annie Road. Check it out by car too. Parking outside your room. Set up for cold winters and hot summers. Recommended to all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very pleasant stay at this classic motel! The lady who took the booking via phone and was there for check in and check out was very helpful and friendly. The room/unit was very well appointed with everything needed, even a kitchen to prepare meals. The room and decor are old school, but everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It's a great location too, away from the main road. Only noise was from late arrivals and a train in the middle of the night. The train only added to the charm. It made me feel like I was in the heartland of old world New Zealand!.
