★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent in many regards, probably a bit expensive though. Highlights were the reception, doorman/concierge, spa, cleaning and restaurant host staff. The serving staff for meals don't need to wear white gloves and their confidence could be lifted. The meals were very beautiful although meat was always one pip more cooked than asked for (duck, lamb or beef). The rooms are very good with very peaceful views into the rainforest. .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved this hotel. Fantastic location and excellent services. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable (important afternoon a day tramping in the bush and up to the glacier). The staff were exceptionally helpful for making arrangements. The restaurant was elegant and the food delicious.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a beautiful place to unwind and relax. The hotel is surrounded by west coast native forest, lovely comfy beds with a kick arse shower. All rooms are done out in a understated kiwi retro chic. Gorgeous spa onsite and a well priced restaurant, I will be coming back.?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved our one night at the retreat. Great stopover on the way up the west coast. Lovely breakfast. Sad to hear that the place is going into hibernation for 18 months.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were greeted by a friendly team member upon arrival and we were treated to a hot refresher towel and fruit juice whilst checking in. The room we were allocated was fantastic. The shower pressure was excellent and having the massage pulsing water function was brilliant after a long days travel. This property has everything you want and more. Do stay here whilst in Franz Josef, you won't be disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time I’ve ever been upgraded to a different hotel and very glad. Te Waonui is a top hotel. Staff are great and rooms large and luxurious. Included breakfast was excellent. Dinner dining was very good and prices more than reasonable considering quality of hotel. Treat yourself and stay here

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing stay in a world class hotel. A private, restful, luxurious room.The staff were so helpful as we were "self fly" guests and had masses of luggage and needed to wait the next day until the cloud lifted. Also loved that they used refillable bathroom toiletries dispenses instead of throw away packets and little bottles. A real treat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely comfortable rooms, restful ambiance, professional helpful staff. I loved sitting out on the patio at night listening to the wind in the trees and watching the moon rise. The restaurant service one night was excellent, the next night could have been better. (The steak burger was excellent.) Lots of nice perks at this lovely hotel. I remember my stay with fondness.
