★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unless you'd like a Faulty Towers experience, avoid. We were not told in advance that many of the lodge's key facilities advertised on their website were not operational.
The pool was green and murky when we arrived. I had brought my swimsuit eager for an April swim in the sun and was immediately disappointed. We couldn't use the tennis rackets we bought with us as the tennis court was overgrown with weeds. The billiards room could not be used as completely covered in the owner's paperwork.
From here things got worse... There was no toliet paper when we arrived, had to ask for some. No way to lock the room so felt vulnerable. We weren't told of a scheduled power cut on the second day morning so as power connected to gas, couldn't shower and our baby monitor etc wouldn't work. I got burnt on the hot tap as thermostat set on boiling. There was no dishwasher or microwave and many standard kitchen items missing (dish rack, normal size fry pan). The jets didn't work in the bath. We felt forgotten about as breakfast was not supplied on the second day. Communication was slow/ non-existent.
The whole place was a 70s timewarp, with no tv, radio etc. The only good points were the fireplace and friendly dog. We got accused of damaged a dish by baking chicken in it after the owner overcharged a cleaning fee. No welcome booklet was provided advising us of expectations, they certainly did not meet ours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Peaceful location. Lovely cottage. Super comfortable bed with quality linen. Delicious breakfast provided. Cathy and Ron are very welcoming and so friendly. Panda is a joyful, fun loving dog.
