This looks emaculate especially with the LEDs installed this year after maintenance. One of the landmark points of the city and one of the beautiful one as well. It's much more than just a rod swinging in the wind once you enlighten yourself with the background story.

I think this is an iconic place? But I couldn't really see the appeal. The walking track it is on is lovely though.

It's there ... It's art... It's iconic it's...well just that .. not to spectacular, just that reason to be out of the city and looking over the water.... Clean and gardens well maintained

Nothing much here. But great view tho! Come during windy day then you can see the wind Wand moves (obvious).

I'm not sure what the wind wand is for, but it was apparently designed by a famous NZ artist (Len Lye). The coastal walkway where the wind wand stands (or sways) is an amazing walk though and definitely worth the visit. This kinetic sculpture just makes things more interesting, I guess ??

Original. It swayed a bit while I was there. Of course, it's location by the sea is magnificent!!!

Obviously an icon on the coastal walkway, the wind wand sways back & forth on the ocean breezes as the sculptor, Len Lye, wished it to. He had a passion for dance in his work evidently & how that manifests on the breezes with the ocean as a backdrop is artistic in itself. At night the light is an icon of the waterfront
