★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This looks emaculate especially with the LEDs installed this year after maintenance. One of the landmark points of the city and one of the beautiful one as well. It's much more than just a rod swinging in the wind once you enlighten yourself with the background story.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm not sure what the wind wand is for, but it was apparently designed by a famous NZ artist (Len Lye). The coastal walkway where the wind wand stands (or sways) is an amazing walk though and definitely worth the visit.
This kinetic sculpture just makes things more interesting, I guess ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Obviously an icon on the coastal walkway, the wind wand sways back & forth on the ocean breezes as the sculptor, Len Lye, wished it to. He had a passion for dance in his work evidently & how that manifests on the breezes with the ocean as a backdrop is artistic in itself. At night the light is an icon of the waterfront
