Really appreciated the karakia prior to beginning our hike. Was great that we recorded our dets and were asked to text once we had finished our hike as well as the driver taking a pic of us all, felt reassured of having safety measures in place. Would totally recommend these guys :)

But most of all you brought a cultural context to our crossing which was important and appreciated and delivered with meaning. The driver provided us background and information about the trail including MΔori cultural elements. Another great thing about this company was that we were able to park in a secure lot rather than the highway. Highly recommend this company!

They can't be blamed for the weather lucky for us the day we went the weather was perfect. Thank you backyard tours for providing a great start to an amazing day.
I will use them again when we plan to do the Tongariro Alpine crossing as a family.

β β β β β Had a great experience with Backyard Tours (after Tongariro Expeditions cancelled on us on the last moment through a text saying not enough people!). James was awesome and so was the lady who was happy to pick up my call at 8pm to make the next day booking. They have a secured carpark as well.
Highly recommend! Thanks to James for helping us in the last moment - it was such a great day to do the crossing, we loved it!

β β β β β I highly recommend backyard tours shuttle service. We were very well taken cared of, from the morning pickup to the drop off back to where we stay. The whole journey is personalised and we were given lots of helpful tips and shared with local fun stories. What's more is that we missed the last shuttle due to some unexpected mistake on the way back from the Tongariro Crossing and a special pickup was arranged just for us on our late arrival. Thank you so much for making our trip a safe and pleasant one!

β β β β β The woman in the car park was very rude to us when we turned up and was told to park on the road because we were not using their shuttles. She demanded we cancelled our booking and paid again to them. Be warned they try to scam people.
