★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great but steep track to the top of Pauanui Summit. While it starts off a little gentle, there is nothing more flat than the first 100 meters of this track.
Popular with locals, who motor up and down and popular with visitors, it is easy to spot the locals and visitors.
A nice view point at the top with benches to rest on.
While most head straight back down, take the time to go the back route back to Pauanui, via Cave Bay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Challenging climb to the top but well worth the effort. Not recommended for the unfit. The track is formed but is subject to erosion and wear and tear. Suitable for accompanied children. Not suitable for jandals or flip flops. There are sections which must be climbed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A decent walk with amazing panoramic views from the trig. 1-1.5 hour return trip for moderately fit. Quite steep in places and requires a bit of navigating the roots.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Steep rocky hike to top. You'll sweat a lot on this one. Views along the way are great, as are they from the top. Sign is right, 1h45m for moderately fit. You can make this a loop, another 1h45m from top - it ends up at the cave walk, the trail the was to the left when you started this hike.

Took us around 26min to get up, very sweaty but was so worth it at the top. Quite steep in places but even the dog was able to make it up.
Highly recommend doing this in the morning when it’s cooler and take in that beautiful view.
