★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly after travelling from Christchurch to this motel we refused to stay in the accommodation provided . On viewing the family unit 3 we opened the door to a very musty smell and the furniture was very old and not very comfortable looking . Toilet was outside the entrance door to the lounge / bedrooms . Friendly lady in the bar did not want a cancellation payment and i got the impression this was not the first and wont be the last cancellation on viewing the rooms and surroundings of the other units .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Needed a place to stay on our road trip around New Zealand and stumbled across this beachside tavern. We were made to feel at home immediately and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The new cottages were great as well as the food and drink!
Not forgetting Ali, the cutest German shepard alive!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolute filth. Booked a "self contained unit" wet carpet, no furniture, no pillows. Owner went and got an old stained pillow. Nutted out when we said $300 was unreasonable given the state of the place..told us price was now $500 or we could get out. Couldnt get out fast enough. Would have got more pics but my phone died

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best places my husband and I have stayed at in a long time. Good value for money! I was bit wary about staying in a "motel" but I was seriously so impressed. Loved the charm of the room too, I seriously loved how it was decorated with unique pieces. The atmosphere of Austin Motel is really warm and welcoming, as is the customer service. Kudos!
