★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place has uninterrupted mountain views and is dead quiet at night. There are only 2 cottages on a property; ours was spotless clean and well maintained. I recommend this place if you are taking cruise on Doubtful Sound or just exploring the less crowded fjords on your own.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed here for two nights and can't say enough good things it. Our cottage was clean and stocked with all the essentials we could have hoped for. It was great to wash our clothes using the in-unit washer and dryer after being on the road for several days. The owner was super friendly and made us feel welcome and at home even though we were on the other side of the world. The location is beautiful. Manapouri is a smaller town so we enjoyed the peacefulness of the New Zealand countryside, but there are still several restaurants and convenience stores near by. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. If we're ever lucky enough to come back to New Zealand, we'll definitely be staying at Acheron Cottages.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The cottage we rented was very nice! During the time of booking, I was suggested this place as an alternative to the original accommodation, since the alpaca farm (amazing people as well, be sure you stop there when visiting Manapouri) was booked. We were pleasantly surprised!
The cottage is setup with a nice kitchenette (no oven, but nice stove, grill, microwave etc.), laundry, nice setup for the bathroom, and 2 separate rooms for a family. Two separated twin beds in the far room, nice master with a very comfortable oversized bed. Couches were nice, and the views were excellent with windows eveywhere.
From the pictures, I was expecting a dated cabin, and instead got an updated cottage that was perfect for our stay! We'd be comfortable there for any length of time. Thanks Jo!
