★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a nice fall but it is depending on the height of the river how much of it you see. So you may want to visit it after a nice shower day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you like secret hideaways, this is the place for you. A beautiful swimming hole with plenty of picnic space, just a short walk from the parking lot. Bring a swim ring too for floating down the river. This is relatively quiet, so no toilet available yet.
And look out for the rainbows that happen over the waterfall!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hugely disappointing. I have seen more impressive storm water drains. Didn't even bother taking a photo after a 2 hour drive to get there. Would not go back unless there was heavy rain prior to going and I was in the area to begin with.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Go down an unsealed road Wairoa Falls Rd for 2km and at the end are the falls. Just view from the carpark, no walks. Falls were running well after a bit of rain.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wairua Falls is located on the Wairua River, a 30 minutes' drive away from Whangarei. Usually, it's a waterfall almost without water, but in a rainy season, it looks absolutely unbelievable.
