★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great camping sites down by the water. No kitchen but the water in the lake was warm. Also close to Hokatika and there was an awesome 15min walk through the bush.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning place to visit and exceptionally quiet on a rainy day. Enjoyed that aspect. You can camp here for a reasonable price and the facilities are pretty good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning views of the Southern Alps, a beautiful lake, precious wildlife and a clean, spacious and peaceful camp site. Lake Mahinapua is a perfect spot from which to explore the Hokitika/Ross area, rich in history and scenic wonders. Definitely worth several day's stay. And I can't think of better place to sip my morning coffee in the sun during an October West Coast drought with not a sandfly in sight!
